I'm in the minority that liked The Lone Ranger, so I'm okay with this.

Well, there's also the Hobbit, Star Trek, and Despicable Me but I don't personally consider them CBMs...

All Meryl Streep needs to do is appear in a movie and she automatically gets a nomination -.- Happy for Fassbender and especially McConaughey - boy has he turned his career around

12 Years A Slave will win most of them. Jared Leto deserves the Supporting Actor award.

Sorry but Prisoners was awful though I'll give Gyllenhal his due. I'm glad 12 Years got love, I'm rooting hard for that. Though I freaking loved every minute of Gravity.

I think Man of Steel should've been nominated for Visual Effects.

I think MOS should have been nominated for VFX but Gravity will win anything in the technical department including best VFX.

What?! I thought Man of Steel was the greatest film ever created? It has to be. It won all the awards on this site!

Good for IM3, but in that particular category, the award will go to Gravity, there's absolutely no doubt about it.

Man of Steel's effects weren't very good, there was just a lot of them. You always knew the moment something went CG and it all looked fake. It was great spectacle but still very visible FX work. Iron Man 3 covered their tracks better.

Gravity will win it for sure though. That shit had amazing effects.

Man of Steel is not in the list. I´m wondering why... (sarcasm).

Cheers!

@niklander

Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in American Hustle.

She should win the award.

Jared Leto!!!! He was awesome!

Also, does anyone else think that Lupita from '12 years a slave' was better than Lawrence in 'American Hustle'? Not hating, Lawrence is a great actress but I believe Lupita was better than her. We'll see, she might get the Oscar even though she didn't win the Golden Globe.

And yes, Gravity will definitely get the visual effects.

How the f@ck does "The Lone Ranger" get nominated for effects and not MoS? I gotta go back and watch IM3 again and see these great visual effects I missed. But I refuse to ever watch that turd, "The Lone Ranger," again.

The biggest disappointment for me is no Joaquin Phoenix.

Gravity will win Best Visual Effects for sure and probably sound mixing/editing as well

12 Years a Slave is taking the big ones, Best Picture, Best Director, and tied with Wolf Of Wall Street for Best Actor. As much as I LOVED Chiewtel's performance, every single one of Leo's top quality performances were wrapped in one and he gave it his all for this film. However... Jennifer Lawrence DOES NOT NEED that Oscar for supporting. Give it to Lupita or Jennifer Garner. Fassbender and Leto are my supporting actor choices. Aaaaaand those are my 2 cents.

Also: WHERE IS JOAQUIN PHOENIX?!
NightBoyWonder
NightBoyWonder - 1/16/2014, 6:50 AM
Lupita from 12 Years A Slave did better than Jennifer Lawrence

Man of Steel should have gotten a nod for Visual Effects and The Place Beyond The Pines was snubbed IMHO. Gosling's presence was felt throughout the whole movie (possible Best Actor) and the movie as a whole stays with me to this day (Best Picture).

NightBoyWonder - 1/16/2014, 6:52 AM
There's no reason why Man of Steel is NOT.on there and Star Trek is...
