LOGO UPDATE! Movies 2011: Superheroes, Wizards and More

Over the last six months or so the various studios have been announcing films that will be reaching theaters next year, quite a number of CBMs among them. Due to the fact that those announcements tend to blend together, what follows is a breakdown of some of the highlights.Now with Spider-Man 3-D logo and more!

JANUARY 14TH: The Cabin in the Woods - Produced by Joss Whedon, directed by Drew Goddard. Reportedly a new twist on the kids in the woods theme.

FEBRUARY 11TH: The Night Chronicles - Devil. One of a group of people trapped in an elevator reveals themselves to be the Devil.

FEBRUARY 18TH: I Am Number Four - Alien teens who have assimilated on earth discover that the destroyer of their planet has arrived to eliminate them. Written by Al Gough and Miles Millar.

MARCH 4TH: Priest - A priest pursues the vampires who kidnapped his niece.

MARCH 11TH: Battle Los Angeles - The marines take on alien forces on the streets of Los Angeles.

MARCH 25TH: Sucker Punch - Women in a mental institution plunge into fantasy worls as they envision their escape. Directed by Watchmen's Zack Snyder.

APRIL 15TH: Scream 4 - The horror franchise continues, no doubt winking at the genre that spawned it.

APRIL 22ND: Red Riding Hood - Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke directs this fairy tale with a twist as Red and the woodcutter go up against a menacing werewolf.

MAY 6TH: Thor reaches theatres under the direction of Kenneth Branagh and with Chris Hemsworth in the title role. A hint of what might be expected in the film comes from the tag of Iron Man 2, in which Thor's hammer is found in a crater.

MAY 20TH: Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides returns Johnny Depp to his most famous role, Captain Jack Sparrow, who, in this advneeture, is seeking the Fountain of Youth.

JUNE 3RD: X-Men - First Class serves as a prequel to the film franchise. Directing is Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass), the story focusing on the younger days of Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr (a.k.a. Professor Xavier and Magneto).

JUNE 17TH: Green Lantern is DC's first attempt to give a superhero beyond Superman and Batman the big budget, big screen treatment. Ryan Reynolds is starring as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern, with Marin Campbell (Casino Royale) directing.

JUNE 24TH: Cars 2 - Pixar's CG follow-up.

JUNE 24TH: Rise of the Apes - Combination reboot/prequel to the Planet of the Apes films, with James Franco as a scientist whose genetic experiments with apes ultimately leads to humanity's downfall.

JULY 1ST: Transformers 3 - Michael Bay, Shia, big battlin' robots!

JULY 15TH: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2: In what will have been a 10 year journey, the tale of the boy turned man wizard comes to a close.

JULY 21ST: The First Avenger - Captain America stars Chris Evans in the title role, with Joe Johnston (Rocketeer, Jurassic Park 3, The Wolfman) directing. Will reportedly take place both in the 1940s and today.

JULY 29TH: Cowboys and Aliens pits James Bond and Indiana Jones (okay, Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford) against an alien invasion set in the Old West.

AUGUST 3RD: The Smurfs come to CG life.

AUGUST 19TH: Spy Kids 4 - All the Time in the World returns director Robert Rodriguez to the franchise that made him a directorial star.

AUGUST 26TH: Final Destination 5 has yet another group of kids miss out on death, and then awaiting a return visit.

SEPTEMBER 23RD: Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 will feature more 3D adventures at the earth's core, but no Brendan Fraser.

SEPTEMBER 23RD: Underworld 4 returns to the vampire/werewolf franchise. Rumors are Kate Beckinsale will return as Selena.

NOVEMBER 4TH: Puss in Boots is the CG spinoff of the Shrek franchise starring the voice of Antonio Banderas.

NOVEMBER 11TH: Immortals focuses on Greek warrior Theseus and his battles against imprisoned titans.

NOVEMBER 18TH: Real Steel is set in the near future where boxing matches consist of robots that are made to look like humans. Hugh Jackman stars.

NOVEMBER 18TH: The Twilight Saga - Breaking Dawn, Part 1 is the first of the two-part conclusion to the adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's vampire book series.

DECEMBER 16TH: Mission Impossible IV has Tom Cruise reprising his role of Ethan Hunt. J.J. Abrams is likely to produce with Brad Bird (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles) directing.

DECEMBER 23RD: The Adventures of Tintin - The Secret of the Unicorn is the Steven Spielberg/Peter Jackson adaptation of the classic comic strip character.
