With many movies and TV shows being made based on superheroes in the past 20 years, there's been a demand for good actors to portray these heroes. As a result, many actors have been asked to play more than one superhero. This can cause confusion for fans when they try to put a face to certain superheroes, but it has worked out so far, regardless.

Chris Evans was the perfect actor to play Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies. But Marvel also thinks that he's perfect for the part of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. Evans stars as the American hero in the upcoming Captain America and Avengers film, respectively, both due for a 2012 release.

Ryan Reynolds made a splash when he played Wade Wilson/Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But before that, he was Hannibal King in Blade Trinity. And in 2011, we'll see him put on a power ring and become Green Lantern. This is after he was also considered for the part of Barry Allen as Flash. How many superheroes can one actor play?

Samuel L. Jackson has re-defined the character of Nick Fury with his performance in Iron Man and its sequel. But little do some realize that this is his second superheroes film experience, the first being The Incredibles, in which he was the voice of Frozone. Although you can't see his face in the movie, he's a big-name actor with two superhero identities.

Now we get into some actors that aren't necessarily two different superheroes, but they are multiple characters in the superheroes universe. Richard White is the husband of who was formerly known as Lois Lane in Superman Returns. He also was Scott Summers (aka Cyclops) in all three X-Men movies. Richard White may not be a superhero, but he's a character in a superhero movie, just the same.

Smallville fans are familiar with Michael Rosenbaum, the actor who played Lex Luthor for many years. He's also made a name for himself as the Scarlet Speedster in the Justice League animated series, where he's the voice of Flash. It's tough to hate him as the bad guy in Lex, but it's also tough to cheer him on as the good guy in Flash.

There are numerous other actors who have played multiple characters in other superheroes media. Here's a list of some more:

Halle Berry - Catwoman (Catwoman film), Storm (three X-Men films)

Mark Hamill - Hobgoblin (Spider-Man, The Animated Series), Joker (Batman: The Animated Series)

Clancy Brown - Lex Luthor (Superman - The Animated Series and Justice League), Sinister (Wolverine and the X-Men)

Neil Patrick Harris - Replay (Static Shock), Spider-Man (2003 animated series), The Music Meister (Batman: The Brave and the Bold), Nightwing (Batman: Under the Red Hood)

Tom Kane - Dr. Doom (Spider-Man, The Animated Series), H.O.M.E.R. (Iron Man and Hulk animated series)

I guess some people are just meant to be in the superhero entertainment genre.

Here’s a similar article I posted 09/15 if you’d like a larger starting point for discussion:

The bigger question is "Does is matter?"

I am guessing by these lists that for most audience memebers it doesn't. I am all for getting quality actors for the major roles.
