5. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Despite not being a huge fan of the LOTR Trilogy (I know I'm a terrible human being), I am actually quite looking forward to The Hobbit. Or, at least, the first part of The Hobbit. While I can appreciate that Peter Jackson's creative choice is usually (always) the right one, I cannot see one book spread across three movies. I know that the third part will apparently be based on notes of Tolkein's and will be something else entirely, but I still think an adventure movie should be just one movie, even if it is three hours long. Either way, I'm looking forward to The Hobbit this Christmas and expect to see (as always) some incredible visuals.
4. Argo
Based on a true story that is bound to make you smirk, Argo stars Ben Aflleck (who also directs, Bryan Cranston and John Goodman. I must admit that this film first got my attention just when I saw Bryan Cranston's name attached who, after his incredible performance in Breaking Bad, I've been wanting to see on the big screen for a while (let's just say Total Recall didn't count). I am very much looking forward to seeing this story unfold on the big screen in November, especially when Ben Affleck is behind the camera.
3. The Master
So far this year I've mostly been sticking to action-flicks, blockbusters and sci-fi movies (e.g. The Avengers, Prometheus, Total Recall). But I feel I cannot miss The Master this November. If you haven't already watch one of the many (but not spoiler-filled) trailers for what will probably be an Oscar-winner this year.
2. Skyfall (Bond 23)
Daniel Craig returns as 007 in Skyfall this November. Now there are plenty of reasons to be looking forward to Skyfall. Perhaps enough to take up one feature. But as a big James Bond fan, I'm happy to see the series finally returning to it's roots. After two very different and much darker Bond movies (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace), from the latest trailer for Skyfall it looks like we are in for a classic Bond movie this fall.
1. Looper
If you haven't heard of Looper do yourself a favor and check out the trailer! In terms of sci-fi movies, so far in 2012 we've been treated to Prometheus, Men in Black 3, Total Recall, John Carter and Battleship. None of which have been anything special. But Looper certainly seems worth a look-in. With an incredible cast coupled with the fact that it's unlike anything I've ever seen before, I will likely be seeing Looper multiple times when it hits theaters on September 28th.
So that's a list of my most-anticipated movies this next half-year. Let me know what you think - whether you agree or disagree. Let me know which of these movies you'd already heard of or had never heard of until now. Please let me know what you think of the trailers for these movies and I'll be back soon with my list of 'Most-Anticipated Movies of 2013'.
