Punisher: War Zone is in its last weeks of shooting in Montreal and the first still from the film has finally been released. Director Lexi Alexander recently unveiled the image in an interview with Marvel.com about the upcoming film:

"I really like violent movies. (This) will be a hard R (rating). The feeling of it is going to be much darker. Comic fans will realize immediately the world we created feels more like the comic book world."

When asked about the connection between this film and the previous one, Alexander said, “This is a complete reboot.” She went on to say, “We took parts out of the world of Frank Castle and tried to make the best story possible.”

So, in Alexander’s opinion, how does Ray Stevenson (“Titus Pullo” on HBO’s Rome) stack up as Frank Castle? Alexander exclaimed, “"Ray Stevenson is incredibly intense. Not only does he totally look like the Punisher, he's…kind of got that look where his life is on his face, you know?”

Punisher: War Zone is scheduled to be released September 12, 2008.
