Remakes are still all the rage, so that's why a new take on Joel Schumacher 1990's movie Flatliners is on the way. That original starred Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, and Kiefer Sutherland and opened to mixed reviews, so why Sony Pictures felt the need to revisit the property is hard to say in all honesty.
Still, it looks mostly ok but definitely seems to have the feel of a typically generic sci-fi/horror movie.
In Flatliners, five medical students, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. But as their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are each haunted by the sins of their pasts, brought on by the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side. Directed by Niels Arden Oplev, Flatliners stars Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, and Kiersey Clemons and is set to be released on September 28th. Check out the poster and trailer below.
