Disney has narrowed the opening windows for
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge from a broader "2019" to two distinct seasons for both Disneyland Resort (California) and Walt Disney World Resort (Florida).
In a surprise announcement over on the Disney Parks blog, Walt Disney Imagineering Portfolio Creative Executive Scott Trowbridge revealed that
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland Resort and late fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort. In addition to the announcement, Disney released another promotional teaser for the highly anticipated
Star Wars -themed land.
Spread across 14 acres of land,
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will transport park guests to the planet of Batuu, a remote outpost on the galaxy's edge that was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes. Located within the land will be two attractions: one that lets guests
take control of the Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and another that puts guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. In addition to these two attractions,
Galaxy's Edge will have a
cantina-style restaurant, shops, and character encounters.
While we wait for
Galaxy's Edge next year, Disney is meanwhile gearing up to finally open the highly anticipated
Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World next month.
