Lucasfilm Releases Official Images Of The New Look Darth Maul From SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

Darth Maul's cameo appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story was a definite highlight of the movie and now Lucasfilm has released some official promotional shots of the returning villain. Check it out...

Say what you will about Solo: A Star Wars Story but there's no denying that Darth Maul's return was nothing short of amazing. Lucasfilm somehow managed to keep his role under wraps while the movie was shooting (and after it was screened to critics) so unless you decided to look up spoilers, The Phantom Menace villain's return would have come as a complete surprise in the theater in May.

It's just a shame that Solo didn't perform well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel as Maul's story is now unlikely to be followed up on and we can probably forget about Qi'ra coming back too.

Regardless, these promo shots offer up a great look at the villain's new lightsaber and the legs he's using to get around with these days. Fans of The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels will no doubt recognise them but it's frustrating that we'll probably have to rely on a novel or comic book to explain this part of his life now. What do you guys think of Maul's new look? Share your thoughts below.

What was the point of that scene. We know he's dead by the end of Season 3 of Rebels so why is that even here?

Is it setting something up? Will he turn up alive in Episode IX and turn out to be the Mastermind behind the First Order?

What's going on?

I thought it was cool they acknowledged the animated shows by putting him in, but my audience seemed really confused by it, and honestly there is not much they can do with him given that Rebels already had the final duel between him and Obi Wan.

@MrDandy - That and the fact that Solo will most definitely not get a sequel.
