Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Adam Driver shares what it’s like to work on this classic franchise.

Adam Driver (Girls, and While We’re Young) who has been billed as a new kind of leading man is different from most of his contemporary’s. The soft spoken actor prefers to avoid celebrity culture in favor of a private existence far from the shining lights of Hollywood. Driver a 31 year old former US Marine does not participate in the culture of self-promotion. He has no Facebook page and no Twitter account. So when Esquire asked him about Instagram he replied “What’s that?” You see while he may be on a show that speaks to a generation the actor really is not in sync with said generation. “That probably sounds f***ing pretentious: ‘Oh, I don’t identify with anyone in my generation! I’m bigger than my time!’” he says. “But it actually freaks me out a bit.”

So what does a private person like Driver think about being a part of one of the largest Movie Franchises in Hollywood?  JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakes is set to be released in a little over four months, and the actor is well aware of the tidal wave that is growing. “Oh yeah,” he says.
“I’m already going f***ing nuts, looking at people out my window and throwing peanuts at them.”

Knowing  this about his personality it’s intriguing to hear his thoughts about his Star Wars experience, and while he is unable to share much about the actual story.  He paints a picture that matches up with what we’ve previously heard about Abrams approach to the project. In affect confirming that the director has chosen to focus on the story over a reliance on CGI, and effects. Driver described the experience this way. “It didn’t feel like a blockbuster as they were making it. The experience was not unlike an indie movie, just with bigger budgets. “With JJ, it’s all about character and story, not special effects,” he says. “And we still talk about character now. Whenever I’ve worked with great directors, it’s always that way. You’re constantly finding it. Things evolve and change even as you’re filming.”

The actor also reveals the work environment isn’t without its lighter moments; they are filming Star Wars after all. "Everyone turns into four-year-olds around Chewie. They all want a hug," he said. "It’s like, ‘We really got to work. Can someone pull our DP off Chewie?'", and while he admits it may sound clichéd "You get these moments where you realize – wow, you’re part of Star Wars, you can’t f*** up!"

I for one am very intrigued with Drivers character Kylo Ren and look forward to his arc throughout the Trilogy in the tradition of Darth Vader. Also if you’re a fan of Adam Driver or just interested in learning more about him the Esquire Interview is excellent. Leave your thought below.

He's a very shy boy, I haven't seen much about him(just Inside Llewyn Davis) but I like him.

The Force Awakens has such an amazing cast.

@NightsKing I don't know much about the others, but Domhnall Gleeson and Gwendoline Christie are LEADING material too, they fit their roles perfectly.

He was almost our Luthor, you know! Probably declined the role because of Star Wars. Though I like that Eisenberg isn't physically imposing at all - he's an ideological and intellectual threat to Superman, as Lex should be. It'd be weird to see Lex towering over Cavill, like Driver would.
