Mark Hamill has been nearly silent throughout the entire production of J.J. Abrams' new film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He recently spoke about his non-disclosure agreement and about how he couldn't even utter a word about the movie, let alone his character. But now he finally opened up about his return to the role of Luke Skywalker in an interview with Famous Monsters Filmland Magazine.

When asked about the film in general and how he felt about the newest addition to the Star Wars franchise, Hamill had this to say, “The new storyline, the new characters, and especially the actors that they chose to play them, are thrilling beyond words.” Star Wars fans can only imagine and wait in anticipation to experience what Mark Hamill has merely described in just one sentence. I know I am. Hamill then went on to talk about the film and how it differs from the originals in the aspect of character relationships. He even mentions the famous and awkward love triangle between Han (Harrison Ford), Luke (Mark Hamill), and Leia (Carrie Fisher). “I think [THE FORCE AWAKENS] could be every bit as exciting for the audience, [but] it’s not going to be like it was then, when we’re rattling around in the Death Star, and exchanging quips, and jockeying for the affections of the princess. It’s going to be age appropriate. The story has moved on, and our purpose in the story is different than it was then.”

One of the most important things about The Force Awakens is the introduction and acceptance of the new heroes and villains joining the franchise and Mark Hamill knows just that. He goes on to mention the importance of passing the torch to the next generation and how the film will be reaching a new and young generation of fans. “It is about setting up the next generation of heroes and villains, but the fact that half a dozen cast members from the originals can be there to place it in some sort of context, to be there for the historical side of things, I think it’s wonderful. … Young people can see the progression of the characters. I’m old enough to be Luke’s grandfather now, and that’s a healthy, natural thing for people to see.” From all of this, we can certainly see that the film and its cast are ready to give us a great experience that will set things up for the future of Star Wars and its fans. How excited are you to see Luke Skywalker return to the big screen?

I think the new kids version of the Millennium Falcon will be the actual Millenium Falcon.
And we might be looking at these kids all wrong, trying to work out whose kids they are.
Did you hear what Luke Skywalker said?
"Grandchildren"

DukeAcureds - But it's only been 30 years since The Return of the Jedi and these kids must be at least in their 20s.

Acurio@ I love that picture.
And, that's a good point with the age thing.
I'm still laying down my bets that Rey is Han and Leia's kid and Finn is Lando and Leia's kid. Although they were holding hands and running in a recent TV spot... But that doesn't really mean much, when you have Luke and Leia flat-out kissing in Empire.
