STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Unveils Our First Look At The Sith Trooper Ahead Of SDCC

The first official merchandise for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has now been unveiled ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, and it focuses on a new breed of Imperial Stormtrooper known as the Sith Trooper...

With San Diego Comic-Con set to kick-off next week, Lucasfilm has given fans an early glimpse of the latest form of Imperial fighter to menace the galaxy far, far away: the Sith Trooper.

The character design was unveiled via a range of official merchandise over on StarWars.com, and, as you can see, the armor closely resembles that of the First Order Troopers while sporting the menacing red hue of Snoke's Praetorian Guards (or The Emperor's Royal Guards, if you prefer) from The Last Jedi.

The name "Sith Trooper" is very interesting, as it would seem to suggest that these formidable-looking fellows will be utilized as guards for the returning Emperor Palpatine. Might they also have some connection to the Dark Side of The Force, perhaps?

Check out the merchadise images below, and let us know what you think of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's Sith Trooper in the comments.

Can I get a variant of Jedi Troopers that are ugly-ass lime green?

I'm waiting for a Storm trooper and Super Troopers crossover.

Having the Sith be an overt political force (with armies and such) is something I've always liked in some versions of Star Wars stories. (KotOR is a great example.) Them as a secret two-man cabal did a lot less for me.

Off-topic (and I'm reposting from the Shazam thread because it's slightly old and pretty low-traffic), but did anyone else see this video?

Neat insight into the practical realities of filmmaking, and a good contrast to the abstract academics (and whinging) that usually dominate the fandom discussion.

@BlackBeltJones - I think they meant to type Sh!t Trooper. Autocorrect strikes again

For all the

about storm troopers and their designs in these new films, they still don’t do shit. Nothing remotely memorable anyway.

I’d kill for a sequence of them just impressively wrecking shit and actually giving the resistance a real run for their money. Going PG-13 John Wick, gun kata (in this case blaster kata) on em.

@BlackBeltJones - Nothing remotely memorable anyway.

They got their fudge packed in by a bunch of cute marketable teddy bears.

@PeterCipher - or just actually make the troopers formidable for a change.

The Empire, First Order etcetera talk so much about having an iron fist on the galaxy blah blah. Well the troopers are the ones who enforce that on the ground, firsthand level so shouldn’t they actually be scary and a piece of work?

They should bust in on resistance squadrons like this

Didn't some people at some point basically call others stupid for believing they were seeing Red Stormtroopers on a poster, because it was obviously just Kylo Ben's red lightsaber illuminating regular Stormtroopers?

Anyways, horray for all the exciting new directions that were somehow opened to Star Wars by TLJ!

@ThorArms - The article is still there, but the leaked poster was removed, and someone seemingly wiped most of the initial comments.

@Kyos - Oh, the doors were flung wide open by TLJ. They could have taken the story in a multitude of different and unpredictable directions for IX. Instead, they got nervous and went back to JJ who is probably just going to go right back in through the out door.

OT: David Fincher FINALLY making a new movie. Teaming up with Netflix and Gary Oldman on the biopic MANK, with Oldman playing iconic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz.

Fincher's The Social Network is still the best movie of the century btw.
