Danny McBride might be used to acting in comedy films such as "This Is the End", but, his role in Ridley Scott's Alien Covenant will be drastically different from any character he's played before.

When it was revealed that McBride would star in Alien: Covenant, many people assumed (including McBride himself), that the 39-year old actor had signed on to play the comic relief, but according to a new interview with Hitfix, it's quite the contrary. "I got the script and I’m like this s–t is dark! There is no comic relief in this at all. This is a dark horror movie," McBride said. "That was exciting. To be able to step into something like that and to participate in a way that not relying on things I’d done before.”

A few days ago, McBride revealed that he plays "the pilot of the spaceship Covenant, which is a colonization ship, searching for a planet where we might start life anew." The pilots in the previous "Alien" films,  didn't exactly fare so well - will McBride suffer the same fate as Tom Skerritt's Dallas, or Idris Elba's Janek?

Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Katherine Waterston, Demien Bichir and Danny McBride, and is set to hit theaters on August 4, 2017.

Looks like Ridley Scott got back on the horse with The Martian. We'll see if it continues with this movie.
