AVATAR 3 Concept Art Takes Us To Previously Unexplored Areas Of Pandora Including Home Of The Ash People

James Cameron's Avatar sequels will further explore the world of Pandora, and some newly revealed concept art showcases new areas of the planet, including those based around fire, snow, and the desert...

Avatar: The Way of Water spent mere minutes with the first movie's forest-dwelling Omatikaya clan, instead shifting the action to Pandora's oceans. That meant we got to see what life was like for Jake and Neyteri as part of the Metkayina clan and it gave filmmaker James Cameron the opportunity to make a statement about the world's oceans.

Avatar 3 has already been shot and is expected to introduce a group of Na'vi dubbed the Ash People, but it's become clear that won't be the only new part of Pandora we get to explore in the planned sequels (Cameron has already shot the fourth movie's opening).

Following Avatar: The Way of Water's release on Digital platforms earlier this week, new pieces of concept art which debuted as part of the movie's special features have found their way online (via SFFGazette.com). Offering a glimpse at what's to come in those upcoming sequels, we see different regions of Pandora, all of which are vastly different from those we've previously visited.

There's the volcanic-like setting the Ash People will call home along with desert and arctic settings. It makes sense that there's more to Pandora than what was highlighted in Avatar and its follow-up, and we can't help but wonder what valuable resources these areas might have for the RDA to exploit.

Cameron has already confirmed that the action will eventually move to Earth, so we'll eventually get to see what has made our planet's denizens so desperate that they would lay waste to the peaceful Na'vi.

Take a closer look at this new Avatar concept art in the Tweets below.

I liked the first Avatar, I liked the second, and I really like seeing a director who's genuinely passionate about his goofy sci-fi storyworld instead of just cashing another check.

I think it's hilarious that we're actually doing the whole "4 classical elements" thing, but I'm game. Gimme more biomes to explore, time skips, and asymmetric warfare and I'll be happy.

@DarkModeDan - could say it's five classical elements, because there are five movies. And for that reason I bet the final one will be in space
DarkModeDan
DarkModeDan - 3/31/2023, 1:43 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Fair! I wasn't sure if the first one was all that intentionally associated with a specific element, so I was just counting the 4 movies we now know will be.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 3/31/2023, 3:33 PM
@DarkModeDan - yeah, wasn't sure either. My guess is the first one was Earth, since it mostly took place on land.

My guess is the Earth chapter will definitely be Air though, because if the Ash Tribe stars in the fire movie, then the Sky People must star in the air movie right?

@bkmeijer1 - I think you're on to something there...

I know some cultures listed the classical elements as Air, Water, Earth, Fire, and then "Aether" or "Void" for the fifth element. I'm gonna follow your reasoning, but swap space to match "void". So maybe:

Avatar: Air? (Because the final battle was in the air?)

Avatar 2: Water

Avatar 3: Fire

Avatar 4: Earth? Desert?

Avatar 5: THE UNRELENTING VOID

But hey, that's just a theory.

@DarkModeDan - yeah, void or aether (or sometimes translated to space), is indeed that fifth element I'm talking about.

Think Cameron is not gonna let the opportunity of having Na'Vi fight in space slip up.

@bkmeijer1 - Yeah, zero G fight sequences? I'm here for it.

And man, I doubt it will happen, but I'd love more time skips after the third movie. Maybe age up the characters a bit for 3, but then jump like 30 years for 4. I'd love to see the way the world and the Navi/Human war changes over time.

@DarkModeDan - yeah, zero G fighting is for sure something I can see Cameron doing.

Don't know how long the time jump was between 1 and 2, but I feel that time jump made a nice jump. Ten years or so is a good amount.

Right now the question isn’t how much will this make. It’s, will the last one top the first one? I think it can. That 3 billion has to be topped eventually right? Haters, please repent, otherwise Cameron will just keep on trying.

So the blue as$ people, so what.

Avatar movies = beautiful mediocre movies.

F & F movies make a billion too. It doesn't make them good either.

Very many people agree with you.

Many of those same people think the Transformers & F&F movies are great too.

@DocSpock - I think you're trying to loop the three movies into the dame category as being bombastic but lacking substance. And while I see transformers and furious movies that way. I absolutely love avatar. I mean there were parts in avatar 2 where I teared up. The first one obviously looked great but it had a simple story that was easy to follow, great characters, and a wonderful lore.

The second movie amped everything up. Thr writing was tighter. The family theme was better than any movie I've seen (I hope fantastic four writers were taking notes). Maybe because I just became a father, but the family theme was just top notch. And the action was spectacular. The bow vs gun fights at the end was like straight out of John wick 4. I just adored avatar 2. And can't wait for more of this world snd seeing the trials and tribulations the family has to go through ♥️

Gonna be real dissappointed if the final fight isn't in a volcano. And someone better be punching a rock to pieces to clear a path!.

Also, if the story eventually moves to Earth, I bet it's in the next movie. Then we've had the four elements, and the fifth one can go into space.
