Blomkamp's Elysium To Start Production By End Of July

The District 9 director finally gets started on his secretive second feature

While not much is known about Neill Blomkamp's follow-up to District 9, it has been confirmed that the director will start production on his second feature Elysium in Vancouver on July 25th, 2011 under the shooting title "Baja Dunes", with locations rumoured to be in and around the Canadian city and locations in Mexico.


Starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, Elysium is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2013.

um, this movie isn't a District 9 follow up. Elysium is its own film.

Blomkamp stated that he will be continuing his District 9 series, but he wanted to do this first.

"follow up" doesn't mean sequel, it means the film he follows District 9 with.
And I'm just clamouring for a District 10, before I want to see an Elysium 2 even more.

Elysium? I don't even know what that means, but this guy made one of my favorite movies ever, so i'll gladly watch whatever else he has to offer.

Just like JJ Abrahms, Blomkamp likes to play viral games (The District 9 Chris blog was jsut awesome). Elysium already has 2 weird videos going 'round, specially the one with the weird creature. Google Elysium viral video. Although I cant wait for the D9 sequel/prequel. Elysium is still going to rock with this guys at the helm.
