Emily Blunt very nearly ended up playing Black Widow and had she not been beaten to the role by Scarlett Johansson, the Marvel Cinematic Universe - and her career - would have looked very different. Ever since then, comic book readers have been hoping the Edge of Tomorrow star would land a big superhero movie role, with Captain Marvel a fan-favourite choice until Brie Larson nabbed the part.
Despite not showing up in the Marvel or DC Films Universes this year, Blunt does have a huge role in Disney's Mary Poppins Returns, a Christmas Day release which should wind up being a huge hit.
