FOX have announced plans not to renew Almost Human for a second season. This follows the news of the shows producer JJ Abrams (Lost) unveiling the cast for Star Wards Episode 7 which he is set to direct.

According to variety, Fox have confirmed that Almost Human starring Karl urban (Star Trek) has been dropped by the channel. The sci-fi 13 part series followed Urban as a human/machine cop in the year 2048 partnered up with Michael Ealy (Underworld: Awakening) as a human like combat android, Dorian. The show also starred Minka Kelly, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Irby and Lili Taylor. Its March season finale averaged 5.63 million viewers and a 1.5 in the 18-49 demographic, down from 9.1
million viewers and a 3.1/8 share in adults 18-49 on its opening.

The show which credited JJ Abrams as executive producer, comes to an end following yesterdays Star Wars cast announcement. It is not clear yet if Abrams commitments to the new film prevented him from returning to Almost human. As I'd imagine taking on the worlds biggest franchise is a time consuming process!

Were you a fan of the show and sad to see it go share your thoughts below.

Almost Human is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.
