BOX OFFICE: Universal's JURASSIC WORLD Shatters Estimates With $82 Million Friday

Jurassic World has garnered an $82 million dollar opening day and is on track for a weekend haul of $181-$200 million. If Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is 'box office viagra', can we start calling Chris Pratt 'box office cialis'?

Jurassic Park on track for $200 million opening

Jurassic World opens to $82 Million (Domestic) Friday, On Pace For $400 Million (WorldWide) Weekend

Chris Pratt has another box office winner on his hands.  Early estimates for Jurassic World pegged the film for a $125 million opening weekend but thanks to a gargantuan $82 million dollar Friday, the film is now projeceted for a $181-200 million weekend.  The Friday total gives Jurassic World the thid biggest opening ever behind, Avengers: Age of Ultron ($84 million) and 2011's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ($91 million) earned more.   Through Sunday, and thanks to an impressive $41.6 million haul in China, Jurassic World is on pace to earn over $400 million worldwide in its first weekend of release.

Colin Trevorrow directed the action-adventure movie for Universal. Legendary Pictures co-financed the film.With impressive numbers like these, it's very likely 'The Park' will be opening its gates again in the near future.

"can we start calling Chris Pratt 'box office cialis'?"

No!

Jurassic world stars are the dinosaurs, human characters aren't important.

@milk2 yeah the characters are irrelevant that's why they hired the fastest rising star in Hollywood to headline the film

"Jurassic world stars are the dinosaurs, human characters aren't important."

That's the problem. Have you ever even seen Jurassic Park?

@drunkenmadnukem well the writing is irrelevant in regards to what I was talking with milk about which is that the human characters don't matter in the Jurassic park movies. They wouldn't have hired a rising megastar to headline it if they didn't consider him an integral part of the marketing

Lol, people on this site think that the human characters are the greatest attraction of Jurassic World?

Almost no one will watch Jurassic World because of the human characters, the Dinos are what people really want to see.

It's like Transformers movies, Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox were the main human characters in the first movies, have changed the main human character with Mark Wahlberg and the Transformers movies continued making $1.1 billion at the box office.

The human characters are irrelevant to the success of the Transformers movies people want to see is the giant robots, same thing with Jurassic World.

@BatwingDCCU

Pratt has been in three #1 movies lately eg Lego Movie, GOTG, and now, JW. Hollywood sees something in him to have him headline these franchises. Don't be surprised if he gets cast as the next Indiana Jones.

@Omarvls

Still won't have a $250M opening weekend. I predict $15OM.

Yeah, We'll remember you said that. 250 mill is NOT realistic for any films opening weekend.

throwback when boxoffice estimated an 85million dollar opening weekend back in march or some shit, avengers made 84m on friday, but only 50+50 sun+sat, this could be a juggernaut, people are nuts over this film for pure nostalgia

This year, there are large gaps between the huge franchise movies, allowing them to all gross their potential. Next year, these same kind of movies are going to eat each other.

Looks like I'm not the only one here doubting your prediction of $250M.
