JURASSIC WORLD Scores Biggest Second Weekend Ever & Fastest To Cross $1B Worldwide
A few more of The Avengers' records have fallen. Universal's Jurassic World had a bigger Father's Day than expected and has scored the biggest second weekend ever! Also, the Chris Pratt-starrer has become the fastest film to cross the $1 billion mark! Come check it out!
Jurassic World just had the biggest Father's Day ever.
The official numbers are in, and it looks like Universal's epic dinosaur sequel had a bigger Father's Day weekend than expected bringing in over $106.59 million over the course of its second weekend, a slighly higher total than the $103.1 million collected by Marvel's The Avengers in 2012 during its second weekend. Additionally, the Colin Trevorrow-directed picture cleared $400 million at the domestic box office on Sunday in a record-shattering 10 days, once again beating out The Avengers, which needed 14 days.
Additionally, sometime today, Jurassic World will become the fastest film ever to cross the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office beating the record-breaking performance of Universal's other major blockbuster of the year, the Vin Diesel/Paul Walker-starrer Furious 7. The Chris Pratt-starrer is now the 22nd member of the billion-dollar club and the third film this year to cross the milestone number.
Steven Spielberg returns to executive produce the long-awaited next installment of his groundbreaking Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World. Colin Trevorrow directs the epic action-adventure from a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley join the team as producers.
