Tom Hiddleston And Jordan Vogt-Roberts Discuss KONG: SKULL ISLAND

Pre-SDCC, Kong: Skull Island was just a mildly anticipated giant monster movie from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Post-SDCC it's one of the most highly talked about upcoming releases of 2017.

For my money, the most intriguing trailer to emerge from SDCC was for Kong: Skull Island.  Whatever expectations you might have had for the film, chances are you didn't think it was going to be Apocalypse Now meets Cloverfield. "We needed to make this film different and different for a reason," says director Jordan Vogt-Roberts to Yahoo Movies. He continued, "We've had so many Kong stories in the past, we didn't want to tell the Beauty & the Beast story over again.  We wanted to present audiences something new - a new story but within the mythology.  we wanted to take this character that people love Kong, and take this place, Skull Island and do something new with it but ground it in characters."

For more from the cast and crew, including Tom Hiddleston, John Goodman, Corey Hawkins, and Jason Mitchell, watch the video below.  Kong: Skull Island arrives in theates on March 10, 2017.

In March 2017, the producers of Godzilla transport audiences to the birthplace of one of the most powerful monster myths of all in KONG: SKULL ISLAND, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.

When a scientific expedition to an uncharted island awakens titanic forces of nature, a mission of discovery becomes an explosive war between monster and man. Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly star in a thrilling and original new adventure that reveals the untold story of how Kong became King.

@TheBeard - Kong doesn't look like a Gorilla AT ALL. Look at the proportions on that pic. Gorillas and apes in general have longer arms, shorter legs. Their stance is different. That looks like a human in disguise.

I'll wait till DVD for this... Wasn't impressed with Godzilla. I still think they could make a great Godzilla movie, but focus more on Godzilla and less on the characters around him.

@slickrickdesigns - personally would love nothing more than a Godzilla or Kong movie focused mainly on them but that will never happen because the cost of CGI and 2) humans seem to think ppl can't connect unless humans are the centerpiece of well.... everything! So sadly it's not gonna happen anytime soon with either of those properties

@JedimasterD - yeah, I get that and I know we won't ever get many pure great action or horror movies with out centering around a main character that people can relate to or connect with. I like the whole idea of Godzilla and King Kong but the focus of other peoples relationships and emotional baggage can bore me in those movies.

@slickrickdesigns - this Kong looks like shit. Look at that pic. It doesn't look like a gorilla, it looks like a man dressed as a chimpanzee.
