Max Landis Off CHRONICLE 2
A few hours ago, screenwriter, Max Landis, passed along some sad news, that he is no longer working on the script to Chronicle 2, and furthermore, has not been involved for months. Check it out!
March of 2012, Fox announced that Max Landis was returning for the Chronicle sequel, but director Josh Trank was not gonna accompany him on that journey. The original film, did very well at the worldwide box office, grossing over $105 million. While fans of the first were slightly upset that Trank wasn't returning, most were pleasantly surprised to have Landis back.
But, the first whiff of trouble came in October, when Max's father, John, revealed that the studio was not pleased with his son's script. "He wrote a sequel, and it’s amazing, and the studio read it and said, 'We want ‘Chronicle’ again!' And he said, 'No, this is the sequel, it’s the evolution, and they said 'No, we want that movie again!' So it’s difficult, we’re dealing with a difficult business.'"
The next update we got came in April, when Max responded to his father's comments, and assured fans that the sequel was moving forward. "There's no one at the studio who wants to make a bad movie. They all want to make a good movie just as much as I do. We're not fighting. The report came out that they didn't like my script. They liked my script. It's just a really dark script."
So, Max's latest tweets on the subject aren't that much of a surprise. You can view them below. I would also like to point out that Max revealed that Fox has already hired writers for Chronicle 2, even though their names were not revealed at this time.
