Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been in theaters for just twelve days, but the movie has already reached another significant benchmark at the worldwide box office. As you can see below, the first of Disney and Lucasfilm's Anthology movies has earned $555 million, a very impressive achievement.
It reaching $1 billion is a given, especially with its release in China right around the corner. It obviously won't go as high as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the studio never expected that to be the case.
With the likes of Assassin's Creed and Passengers bombing over the holiday weekend, Rogue One hasn't faced much in the way of competition, though Sing did obviously take a chunk out of its haul. Despite that, the movie will likely stay at #1 next weekend, so expect Rogue Two to be announced any day now. However, I can't help but feel like that sequel has been made. Wasn't it called A New Hope?
