EDITORIAL: My Top 5 Choices For Possible STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT Maps

In just a few short days Star Wars: Battlefront will be taking over consoles and PCs all over the world. I've decided to come up with 5 map ideas that would fit the newest reboot of Star Wars: Battlefront. Check out these 5 I hope are future DLC and why you should too!

On November 17th, Star Wars: Battlefront hits the shelves at your nearest gaming stores or Amazon carts. Just recently EA released a limited beta to test out their servers and get fan reactions and the reactions were mostly positive! Now, the game is only a few days away from release and we pretty much know all that is coming with it. We know all the game modes, the single player and the multiplayer modes, and the maps.

Let us focus on the maps! As of now the officially announced and known maps that are coming with the game are:

  • Hoth
  • Endor
  • Tatooine
  • Sullust
  • Jakku (New Trilogy Map)
Of course these are the five planets in which the maps are then divided into different game modes. Also, just recently the season pass details for Star Wars: Battlefront was released, revealing that there are 16 new maps that take place in new locations! (FULL DETAILS HERE)

Now here are my top 5 choices on where I want to fire my blaster into some noobs!

1. The Jedi Temple of Coruscant (In Ruins)

There were very few good things about the prequel trilogy and one of them was getting to know more about the history of the Jedi Order and how they operated. The Jedi Order was very similar to today's Buddhist monks and their temple was the center of everything Jedi in the galaxy. I chose the Jedi temple in ruins as a map because going back to the origin of it all would be incredible. More specifically, to be able to see what has happened to the temple in the last few decades and being able to fight in it would definitely give us insight on just how much the Empire and Sith took out the once great Jedi.

2. The Death Star

There was nothing more terrifying in the Star Wars universe than the Death Star and to be able to explore it as either a stormtrooper or a rebel soldier would be like going to Universal Studios and exploring Diagon Alley. I chose the Death Star for obvious reasons and one of them being, to be able to have a showdown as either Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker in Emperor Palpatine's throne room.

3. The Cloud City

Cloud City is just begging to become a map in the new Battlefront game. Flying around in the skies during a dogfight in Fighter Squadron mode, shooting your way through the interior as Han Solo until you find Darth Vader waiting for you, battling it out deep inside the center as Luke or Vader while dozens of stormtroopers and rebels blow each other up. It's just a great place to raise the kids!

4. Mustafar

The battle between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the best battles in Star Wars to date (aside from the twirling). What made the battle so great was the location in which it took place, Mustafar! Although the current maps for Sullust feature a lava terrain, it just doesn't live up to the hellish beauty that is Mustafar. Just imagine yourself shooting some stormtrooper when suddenly an eruption occurs taking out two of your teammates just a few feet away from you! This map holds such significance because it is literally a planetary Hell and it's where Anakin truly became Darth Vader.

5. The Star Killer Planet

Last but certainly not least, it's the new Death Star replacement, The Star Killer. This planetary weapon is much greater in size than the Death Star and is capable of taking out entire star systems! I chose this map because it would tie in perfectly with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens as a future DLC after the film is released. Just look at the beautiful terrain as a mixture between Hoth and Endor. I would love to especially battle it out as Finn, Kylo Ren, and Rey, reliving what looks to be one of the film's most epic battles. And to be able to wield Kylo Ren's lightsaber... Maybe I won't cut off my own hand as some believe would happen.

There are so many more possibilities when it comes to having maps for Star Wars: Battlefront and these are just some of my favorite ones. I sure do hope they include these maps in the new game as future DLC and much more.

Which top 5 maps are you hoping are included in future Battlefront DLC?

I think all of these are good ideas! They remind me of the levels in Battlefront II. I kinda wish they weren't doing 4 maps per planet. That kinda limits the variety. I also wish they had included the clone wars in this game as well as space battles. But I guess those will have to wait until the sequel.

As for the DLC, I kinda hope they focus on The Force Awakens and bring in the new factions and characters. Id be so excited to play this after the new movie is released!

Interestingly enough, we already know what happened to the Jedi Temple and it isn't in ruins. It was actually converted into the Imperial Palace, as explained in the canon novel titled STAR WARS: LOST STARS.
