Mark Hamill tweeted out artwork featuring his death scene from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but this time with an iconic Han Solo line: “See you around, kid.” Since he captioned the picture “Foreshadowing,” this might mean he’s returning to the world of Star Wars.
In The Last Jedi, Luke used up all his energy to project himself in Crait and trick Kylo Ren, buying time for Leia’s rebels to escape. When Kylo figured out his uncle was not there, Luke told him, “See you around, kid” and disappeared. When we see Luke back in Ach-To, he becomes one with the force.
If Hamill does return in Episode IX, it'll likely be like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda appearing as a Force ghost. Since Kylo Ren is Supreme Leader of the First Order and is hunting down rebels, Skywalker may be needed once more to train some new jedi.
Episode IX is set to arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019. The movie will star Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron.
