So much effort to keep the hype for a product that didn't deliver what was set up in the previous film. Once the hyperbole is over we have to face the fact that this film was just a fiasco. What a wasted opportunity!

@fundamentallyOT - Just because it didn't deliver on what you thought what the film was set up to be doesn't mean it was a fiasco

Just what I needed, more Canto Bight. Shit, if the Spider-Man 3 novelization made something out of that bust, I hope this one can do the same.

What was your favourite moment in this "film"? the milking? grumpy luke? weird funny Yoda? Purple hair lady not telling her plans? Casino planet? Cringe-worthy lines 'save what we love'.... etc.

@fundamentallyOT - the milking was great to show how far Luke had gone to stay away. You’d be grumpy to if you felt responsible for unleashing the dark side through Kylo. Yoda was no weirder or funny than Empire Yoda. Vice Admiral Holdo did not have to tell Poe anything he is a subordinate in a military organization plus it was already established he could not follow orders. Casino planet was fantastic, it shows the universe beyond good guys and bad guys hence next comment. Save what we love was not cringe at all, if Star Wars is going to continue it needs to stop this good guys vs bad guys fighting, in the movie universe it was even hinted at with no one responding others are tired of the fight. It was a fantastic FILM seen it 4 times and if time allows a 5th time this weekend.

@JohnGrayson - Watch it in slow motion and you will see the pretorian guards waiting to enter the fray. Once again, I respect you liking the film.

Thats one of my main issue. I thought that was the main theme of the film. To end the old and bring about the end of the black and white, bad vs good thing. And for most of the film, I thought it was leading that way, but then they end the film with.

"The Rebellion is reborn today. The War is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi."

We're in the same place we were in at the beginning of A New Hope and The Force Awakens. The Rebellion is just much smaller.

Please tell me how much Empire advanced the story of the Rebellion and Empire?

In the words of Mr. Hamill: “I almost had to think of Luke as another character. Maybe he’s Jake Skywalker, he’s not my Luke Skywalker.”

And I thoroughly agree with him!

To all who feel let down by this movie, lets redeem luke!

@fundamentallyOT - In 30 years from now, do you expect to be the same person you are now?

@LEVITIKUZ - You are expected to be wiser. You are expected to be there for your family no matter what! Are you telling me that if your family needed you, you will say "to hell with everything" I just don't care." that's not part of luke's personality.
Ravenous
Ravenous - 1/24/2018, 2:38 PM
@LEVITIKUZ - I wouldn't expect to be the complete opposite of who I was in the first 22 years of my life, I'll say that.

What gets me, is that they don't give a good enough reason for all of Luke's regression. Before Kylo's fall, all we have is Luke saying "And for a time, there was peace." so I can only assume he was raising the next generation of Jedi in relative peace. How or why did he suddenly get such a pessimistic attitude to where he'd even entertain the thought of killing his sister and best friend's son? How exactly was Snoke corrupting him while he lived under Luke's own roof?
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 1/24/2018, 2:41 PM
@fundamentallyOT - Luke never said "to hell with it". Luke was too afraid to confront his family. How could one confront family and tell them "i failed your son".

Luke cut himself off due to his shame. Han and Leia trusted him with his son and he failed. How could one not understand Luke's pain and decision.

Yoda did the same thing. After failing to defeat the Emperor, he said himself "into exile I must go. fail i have." I guess by your logic, Yoda also said "to hell with everything" I just don't care."

There is a big difference. There was truly nothing Yoda could do. He was one of two known Jedi in a galaxy that was now practically owned by Palpatine, who he just failed to kill.

Luke was in a galaxy that was run by the republic. Sure, they sucked at their job since they let The FO build a third freaking Death Star, but there were plenty of things he could have done.

@Ravenous - So even after meeting with Obi-Wan, Yoda couldn't have tried to attack the Emperor one last time with Obi-Wan by his side?
