SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Deleted Scene Reveals An Improvised Snowball Fight Directed By Lord And Miller

With SOLO, one thing that fans have always wondered is whether the Lord and Miller product would have been better than the theatrical cut. A new deleted scene sheds light on the tone they were going for.

Star Wars has been divisive as of late, from the vocal sect of fans boycotting The Last Jedi, to the disappointing box office returns of Solo, Lucasfilm is wondering how to apporach their next slate of films. Solo, specifically, has impacted the fallibility of Star Wars, proving that the franchise is not unstoppable at the box office. The latest deleted scene seems to strike a lighter tone that would've gone over well with general audiecnes. Would a film with more personality and lightheartedness have reeled more audiences in?

Directied by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the newly released (and improvised) snowball scene contrasts significantly from the finished product, providing a more unique and loveable approach to Han and Chewie's relationship. Talking about how the scene was conceived, Alden Ehrenreich had this to day:

It was kind of this funny experience of waiting around and just hanging out on top of this beautiful mountain. And Woody, being Woody, started throwing snowballs at people, and so we ended up having quite a big snowball fight.

Though fans may divided on whether the duo's renegade approach would've been better for the franchise, there's no denying this clip is entertaining to watch:

Watching it now for the first time and I have to say it's pretty bad.

@MarvelnDCLover - okay so after finishing it I have to say the second half is better than the first some of the dialogue is really cringe-worthy though. Not sure how to feel about the Marauders actually being the Proto Rebellion. How does Mon mothma and Bail Organo fit into this time line. And I guess the question of did Han shoot first is definitely answered now. Well I guess it was a question of would he shoot first not getting shoot first because he obviously did shoot first and original version anyway that's my rant for the day goodbye.

Can we all agree both versions would have been bad and Han didn't need an origin film?

I may be in the minority here but i actually really liked this fight. I don't think the rest of the improvised scenes were as good, based on what we heard, but if it was more like this, with actors improvising in character, then i could see it working as a film. it wouldn't fit with the rest of the star wars' which is unfortunate, but i think it'd be in keeping with one of the best aspects of star wars -- realized characters.

Although I did enjoy this film more than I thought I would, it would have been no better off had Lord & Miller directed it. Ron Howard deserves a lot of credit for making a film as serviceable as he did in this day & age of Star Wars films.

Lord and Miller have a better track record than Lucasfilm so far. I trust them more than Kennedy. Sure their version of Solo could have been terrible and not true to the tone of the source, but it also might have been memorable. I barely remember Solo.

This could have been something really fresh and new.

I mean that scene up there isn't much tp write home about but it gives you an idea of the more casual and fun feel that the film would have had.

It's all about context, of course. Take any unfinished scene out of 21 Jump Street and it wouldn't work as well. It's all about the flow of the film.

(Besides, Lucasfilm's never gonna show us anything really good that they did. Think about it).

I really liked this movie. I wish they'd do a follow up.
