Boycotting this as well as the 3D re-releases. If Lucas has the time and money for digitally "enhanced" nonsense, he has the time and money to release the original theatrical versions of the trilogy on Blu-Ray.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but I feel underwhelmed.

Only way I'd ever buy another starwars movie, is if they release episodes IV-VI on blu-ray without all the awful changes. I don't understand why they don't see that there's a huge market for that.

I agree with trip...

I am only going to buy this IF the episodes IV-VI do not have the new content... I want the original theatrical release... if not I will hold on to my money...

"Complete Saga"? No actually, it isn't. I'm another huge Star Wars fan but I also think Lucas has had enough of my money for the time being. The 3D releases will be next, then hopefully, if George Lucas finally runs out of ideas of how to defile my childhood (or dies) we might - just might - finally get the original versions as part of an "ultimate edition" or something. Here's hoping - until then, I'm out.

@Triptheorist and @woodsy100 - The problem is that George Lucas is a Goof. He was a goof already back in the 70's (a genious one), but from the 90's he's been a billionaire high-tech goof. Now he thinks those are the "definitive versions" and nothing will change his mind.

He'll never honor the old fans. We're cursed to see that ridiculous show at the cantina in A New Hope for all eternity.

And since Ep. III was the only really GOOD new one, he'll find a way to pussify that one too. Just wait.

i'll be buying them.

I will get this no matter what. George Lucas is the creator. Star Wars is his story his vision. I think he can change whatever he wants.
Fogs
Fogs - 5/4/2011, 7:41 AM
@TheCapedCrusader - of course he can change it at his pleasure, since he created these movies only to satisfy himself and his ego, right?

It it's that way, then he has even less respect for the billions of fans worldwide than I thought.

No mention of the The Star Wars Holiday Special I notice!

Doesn't George realise that this is the 'Extras' that all Star Wars fans want!

For those unfamiliar with the The Star Wars Holiday Special, it was a one-off TV special aired only in America in 1978 and featured the main cast from the 1977 film.

In the storyline that ties the special together, Chewbacca and Han Solo visit Kashyyyk, Chewbacca's home world, to celebrate Life Day. Along the way they are pursued by agents of the Galactic Empire, who are searching for members of the Rebel Alliance on the planet. The special introduces three members of Chewbacca's family: his father Attichitcuk, his wife Mallatobuck, and his son Lumpawarrump.

It also features a cartoon that officially introduces the bounty hunter Boba Fett years before his live appearance in The Empire Strikes Back.

@AklashPahk - he is a goof, but I'll go further than that and say he's a sicko. A twisted sicko, who gets off on defiling his own creations. The dirtier it is, the better he likes it. He has always enjoying destroying Star Wars, from the Holiday Special, through to the Ewok movies & now to 3D conversions. Personally I think it stems from a deep-rooted self hatred.

New deleted scenes? That is what I was looking forward to the most but since they won't be one this I'll pass.

I'm content with all the dvds I have.

The best part of this is that I can ignore it. I can continue to ignore Star Wars in an effort to forget the travesty that is the prequels. By the time George or (when he dies) Fox gets around to releasing the original versions, I might have forgotten enough to actually get excited again.

I don't understand why so many people hate the prequels? I thought Episode 3 was good.

Do I pity the person who actually sits and watches all 40 hours of said bonus footage?

Either way this is cool. I just got a Blu-Ray player and have yet to actually buy any blu-rays. These may be my first.

Theatrical versions of IV-VI on Blu-Ray should have been included. They DO exist on DVD, in the last box set they released. I was holding out for the Blu-Ray, but now they disappoint, yet again (even though I'm the only 30something who is only ambivalent about Jar-Jar Binks).

@TopCat I don't think you'll ever see the Holiday Special released. The legend is they trashed any originals of the specials.

If you really want to see it, go to www.demonoid.com, sign up and find a torrent.

Blu-Ray is the format that the Star Wars saga was created for. I've been waiting years for this, watching all kinds of pointless films being released on Blu-Ray that will not benefit from the format. I can wait 6 months more though after the box set is released and get it for about half price!
