I would never thought that they would make more Star Wars movies. 2015 is going to be a BIG year in movies.

A friend of mine who works on the Clone Wars series told me something that made me shit my pants about the new film. I cant be a douche and betray his trust, but if this particular thing happens, STAR WARS will OFFICIALLY be back.

Between Jar Jar Binks and the Trade Federation Droids alone you have the level of kid friendly and screwball comedy only children could swallow. But then you have the things you mention..

Drug dealing, handled as a joke with the idiot trying to sell the ridiculously named "Death Sticks" to a Jedi Knight. The whole purpose of which to tell kids to say no to drugs and cigarettes i.e "Death Sticks"

Prostitutes, could they be any more kid friendly? They don't proposition anyone, they don't speak and they don't actually have sex or show any real nudity so that pretty much makes them another prop in an elaborate costume.

A death in the first two minutes? So what, its a clone, the movies treat clones like Kleenex, not even the Jedi give a shit about the clones getting killed because that's what they bred them for so the kids watching feel exactly the same.

From when Lucas decided to revisit the Star Wars trilogy with special editions, he decided to make them more friendly for children. That meant Han solo had to be nicer and not shoot Greedo first, he had to shoot out of self-defence. He also edited every scene of Storm troopers getting shot to lessen the impact of the lasers exploding on their chests. He decided to add more comedy to lighten the serious tone so kids wouldn't be bored watching the movie so they inserted more scenes of comedy like droids fighting comically or Jawas falling of Rontos, a more funny-munch-bunch type musical number in ROTJ etc

So it no wonder when we get to him revisiting again with the prequels that its an uneven match of bad plotting and ridiculous screwball comedy. Jar Jar and the Trade Federation so called "Battle-droids" being the worse offenders. Everything they say and do is to keep children entertained.

Trust me, Disney will maintain that theme, the serious theme from the original Star Wars we grew up with in the 70's and 80's ended with The Empire Strikes Back. Once Lucas decided he didn't want to make any more and collapsed most of the original story into Return of the Jedi, it became his reason to create characters for merchandising purposes. This is why Jabba's palace is as entertaining to kids as the Muppet Show. This is why Darth Vader no longer strangles anyone (never happens again in the entire prequels because Lucas's kids found it disturbing)This is why Vader turns into a nice sweet old man by the end of the film. This is why Storm troopers get walloped at the Teddy Bears picnic despite their technology. This is why he continued to make two more Ewok movies after shelving SW and also an animated tv series on the Ewoks and one on R2 and 3PO.

Sure fanboys keep watching and hoping they'll get that Star Wars film worthy of following up to the Empire Strikes Back but they've been kidding them selves for years because they refuse to accept the obvious. This is the sad fact of being a fanboy, you live in eternal hope knowing you're going to watch the stupid movie and waste years on the internet moaning about what you didn't like and what it should have been. All the time Lucas and Disney know you'll always part with your cash as long as the words "Star Wars" is above the title, the force has always had a strong influence on the weak minded!

@bazinga85 If I said what the secret is, it wouldn't be a secret anymore now would it. Just know that a solid source has given me information that is huge for STAR WARS fans. When it's official, it will be public.

Less green screen, more real locations, better actors like Mark, Carrie, Harrison, more practical effects instead of CGI, a great story and director, with a ouple of niceameos from some older stars, and we have ourselves a Star Wars movie, reminiscent of Episodes 4, 5 and 6. Just saying.
