"Star Wars Rebels" continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

Star Wars Rebels takes place between Star Wars: Episode III and IV as the Empire tightens its grip on the galaxy and a rebellion begins to form. Executive produced by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman. The series premiered on October 3rd as a one-hour special telecast - "Spark of Rebellion" - and you can read my review of that episode by clicking right here.

Thought earl Jones was done with Vader, could that mean we could get the original Vader in one or more the star wars prequels like the Fet movie

@Monkeyballs "three of the shittiest movies ever made."

Someone didn't get enough attention as a child.

So between III and IV... is this before or after the events of Force Unleashed? Are those games even part of canon anymore? I'm confused...

@LancerEvo

I would assume not. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong but, I'm pretty sure only the movies, this show and the clone wars show are officially canon. Everything else is up in the air at this point.

I wish they stuck with the old way of dealing with canon which was that the EU was canon, so long as the Lucas committee approved. With one exception being that anything personally written by George or appeared in a movie/tv show would override anything that involved a particular character or story arc that had previously be written into the EU.

The prequels were so awful... sooo awful!!

Ok, that's cleared up... now, second question: am I gonna have to watch the entire Clone Wars series/seasons to fully enjoy Rebels? I don't know how much more Clone Wars I can take anymore...

And another thing I just thought of: I remember hearing that the Nightsisters were introduced on a season of Clone Wars... didn't they debut in the EU novels? The Courtship of Princess Leia? Ta'a Chume (ruler of Hapes cluster), Prince Isolder, Teneniel Djo, Nightsisters of Dathomir... etc? If they're not taking stuff from the novels and games anymore, then how did the Nightsisters get on Clone Wars? Was this decision made long before we were told stuff from EU and video games wouldn't be considered canon in the new movies (VII-IX)?

Why not just make the show about Vader hunting the jedi? [frick] this show.

@LancerEvo
No, you don't have to watch any of Clone Wars to understand Rebels. There is part of me that hopes we get to see a grown up Asoka at some point in Rebels, but I'm not sure how licensing will work, so all the other characters will likely be from the movies or original for Rebels.
Clone Wars was created before the throwing out of the EU material, but was included in what was considered canon. You are right about the Nightsisters, they existed first in EU, but what is seen in Clone Wars is considered canon, not what is in anything else.

I would much rather see Vader do the killing of the Jedi rather than the other guy. I am so happy to hear Darth Vader's voice again from James Earl Jones. Vader is hands down the greatest villain in all of cinema history.
