Oscar-winner Brie Larson is perhaps best known for playing Captain Marvel in the MCU these days, but you might have forgotten that the 2018 blockbuster wasn't her first comic book movie role. She starred in Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World way back in 2010, playing Envy Adams, the lead singer of The Clash at Demonhead.
Scott's ex-girlfriend was joined by bandmates including drummer Lynette Guycott (Thomas) and bassist Todd Ingram (Brandon Routh). The latter just so happened to be Ramona's third evil ex-boyfriend, and the group's rendition of "Black Sheep" ended up being a hit with fans.
Larson provided the vocals for that song, and the actress has now taken to Twitter to share some fun behind-the-scenes photos from rehearsal.
"Somehow found these BTS photos from the making of The Clash at Demonhead for Scott Pilgrim," the actress recalls. "We rehearsed like a real band with the guidance of [guitar coach] Chris Murphy, [composer] Nigel Godrich and of course, Metric. And I got to play with my old friend Tennessee Thomas. We tore it up in Toronto."
Larson's version of "Black Sheep" (it was a cover of Metric's song) wasn't included in the original Scott Pilgrim vs. the World soundtrack, but was added to 2021's Expanded Edition.
The 2010 movie was a critical hit but didn't set the box office on fire when it was originally released. However, it's gained a cult following and the franchise now looks set to make a comeback with an animated series that's currently in the works for Netflix.
Wright, meanwhile, is currently penning the screenplay for Seconds, another of Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novels that will be directed by Green Lantern star Blake Lively.
