SHAZAM! Director David F. Sandberg Reveals His Clever Cameo - SPOILER WARNING

Director David F. Sandberg had previously teased a cameo in Shazam!, but even the most eagle-eyed fan couldn't spot the Lights Out helmer's appearance, prompting Sandberg to reveal his cameo on Instagram.

During the last act of Shazam!, Billy and his foster family return to the Rock of Eternity, seeking to escape Dr. Sivana.

Seemingly trapped there, Billy and co. stumble upon a number of doors that appear to open into alternate dimensions. One such door opens to a surprised group of anthropomorphic crocodiles playing poker, who lunge at the door to attack our heroes just as it's slammed shut in the nick of time.

Those crocodiles are likely a nod to Sobek, a Golden Age Captain Marvel villain and one of several Crocodile Men from the planetoid Punkus that joined Mr. Minds' Monster Society of Evil. One of those Crocodile Men was indeed director David F. Sandberg.

Check out his transformation in the Instagram post below.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Shazam had a $25.1 million second weekend, or a better-than-average 53% drop. Almost at $95 million domestic, should hold well enough to reach $140M.

That was an awesome nod. Sandberg really got into Shazam's lore.

Shazam should follow Doom Patrol and keep pushing the whacky! Just leave out the Vulgarity and Death.

OT-ish: Speaking of Captains Marvels at the box office, CM has made $1.065 billion and the next two weekends are going to be insane judging by how Black Panther did the weekend before and of Infinity War's release.

@WakandanQueen - since were fusing the 2 topics, I think Shazam deserves the b.o. Captain Marvel got and vice versa. I didnt hate Captain Marvel bit a billion dollar movie it was not, while I feel Shazam is far more deserving of such accolade. Just a testament to the overwhelming power of the MARVEL STUDIOS logo.

The movie was ok. Not the top 5 DC movies or anything like that but worth a one time watch.

That is amazing and I wondered like the rest what was up with those creatures and for a moment thought it was some Browser meta reference. They are very obscure but it just shows you how much Sandberg researched the source material.

Can't wait for the sequel!
