In an interview with
Extra, the 27-year-old actor said that having Emma Stone on the set helps to make the process of filming director Marc Webb's superhero reboot much more enjoyable and affirmed that he's already developed a solid relationship with the actress who will play Gwen Stacy.
"I really do like Emma - she's a pretty special actress and a pretty special person.
"One of the funnier people and one of the more fun loving people I know. I'm so glad that she's there on set. It's really fun."
In slightly more interesting news though,
EW have revealed that C. Thomas Howell will play a different, and much more recent, character than many expected in the upcoming reboot. (fan speculation was rife that he had been cast as either Norman Osborn or J. Jonah Jameson) Here's what they had to say in their report:
Howell’s reps indicated that he will be playing a character named "Ray," but have no other details. (The name does not immediately ring any bells in Spider-Man lore, other than possibly Ray Cooper, the supposedly deceased father of Spidey’s current comic book girlfriend Carlie.)
Considering that we know Captain Stacy will be in the movie, and it was recently revealed in the comics that he and Ray Cooper worked together, it seems likely that this I'd the character Howell is playing. Add in the fact that another story revealed that Gwen and Carlie played together as children, and we might just see her as a part of the supporting cast of the reboot!
The movie stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse and Chris Zylka with a release set for July 3, 2012 in 3D.
