The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man has garnered mixed reception and has fared well commercially, and can be seen in theaters now. While some fans have claimed that the film has been what they have wanted, others have simply stated how underwhelmed they felt at what was supposed to be a new story with fresh takes on the characters from the popular Spider-Man mythos. Speaking of fresh takes, Chris Zylka has offered that his role as Flash Thompson won't be what we've seen so far in previous portrayals of the character. Read on below, and for the full interview, head on over to Latino Times.

Chris Sharing his thoughts on what Makes his Flash Different:
He’s a bit more rough around the edges than you’ve previously seen him. He has a bit more complexity to him than just some bully who picks on kids for the fun of it. He’s in some ways tormenting himself while picking on Peter.

On which version of Spider-Man that impacts him the most:
Like everyone else on the planet, I saw the Raimi films, and fell in love with the story and the character. It’s going to be exciting to see how attached people will get to our version of the story, which is quite different.

Chris on what it was like to work with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone:
They’re both wonderful, giving actors. They’ve proved themselves in depictions of characters for years now. From what I saw on set no one will be disappointed in their choices in this film either.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, the film is now playing at your local theater!

Um he had like 3 minutes in the film. If this film would've had about 15-20 more minutes, it would've been almost perfect imo

I really like the evolution of his Flash, as well as his portrayal of the role. Yeah, he didn't show up much, but the way the movie shows his transformation from a bully, to Peter's buddy, to a big Spidey fan...long story short, I want to see more of him in future films.

He didn't have much screen time at all, but he had a full character arc that was interesting and respected the source material very well. Now THAT is good filmmaking!

Flash had a very memorable run as Venom:

I liked how he portrayed Flash. I hope they can have him more in the sequel and he needs to get the Venom suit some how.

I'm glad they didn't make him some simple stereotypical bully character. This Flash actually has a personality. The ending school scene with him was perfect, by the way! SUCH a great film! :D

I loved Chris Zylka as Flash
He had the right mix of arrogant jerk and sympathetic jock.

:) I hope he becomes Venom!

He was a good example of a guy who is a bully because of peer pressure.. underneath possibly a good dude, but PP and self esteem issues drive him to be an a**. i liked the turn after the ball scene, clearly a respect was created. I thought it was ok overall, but after watching Marvel explode the MCU, i wonder if sony is thinking about a full fledged "spidey-verse"

Worst part in the movie. Was a bully for less than 20 seconds of the film.

and in a few years, he'll be up for the part of superman.
he will narrowly lose to a hugely more qualified and immensely more likeable actor and spend subsequent years going to nerd-blogs to b*tch about it and lobby support for second string superhero roles.

oh, wait... thats joe guido.

I actually liked his portrayal of Flash as well. As many have said, he wasn't in the film very much but if that's just the perfect example of some fans being able to find criticism in every little damn thing.

It's a 2 hour movie and last time I checked the movie isn't called Flash Thompson. Also, in Raimi's films Flash may of even gotten LESS screen-time. A few scenes of him bullying peter that last a total of like 60 seconds.

I definitely preferred how they handled Flash in TASM, even though he had a short appearance, he was memorable.

In Raimi's films, Flash hardly appeared so little that I had no idea it was Joe Manganiello.

Yeah, I would like to see more of him in The Spectacular Spider-Man as Peter's friend in college. They need to have a scene where they have all the young college kids sitting together in the cafeteria or outside. They need Peter, Gwen , Flash, Mary Jane, Harry and Felicia or Liz.

Does anyone else get bothered by the extremely dark black hair that raimi's flash had... Wierd

I liked this one though. Andrew and Chris' dynamic was great
