If you disagree well congratulations, you still have your own opinion. I am not saying that anyone is wrong I am just saying that this is what I believe is right. I can understand the reactions and the questions raised along with with The Amazing Spider-Man 2. However I can easily make an argument against each if them. The main thing for me in this film was that it wasn't meant to be a high octane action movie, of course it did have some of those elements. In reality, at it's core, it was meant to encapsulate one of the greatest love stories and relationships in comics, the love between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. As most likely you and every comic fan know, Gwen really was Peter's first (and possibly only) true love. I feel that the film did a spectacular job showcasing this iconic relationship all the way until the end. In terms of the villains being "bland" or "glossed over" they were not meant to be the center of the story, once again that goes to Peter and Gwen. Rhino was purposefully given an almost cameo status in the film. When you read the comics you'll notice that often at the beginning you will have Spidey fight a lower "B-tier" character before the story leads up until the grand finally. There were two finales in this case, the false one being electro and the true one being Harry's downfall and Gwen's demise. We saw the aftermath of the true finally in this film with the follow ups to both Electro, Rhino, and the Goblin coming in later movies (The Sinister Six). As for everything else, to me the CGI was some of the best I've seen (with only a few exceptions). The acting and character development, keeping in mind what we discussed about the villains previously, was handled wonderfully. This was especially clear with the chemistry between Gwen and Peter. Max Dillion could have had a better character arc but if you keep in mind that this guy is "Batman-villain-level" insane then it works fine. As far as how the Web Head himself was handled, I don't know how anyone could too this. He had a properly functioning spider-sense, something we do not see often in movies, he had strong a since of moral obligation and responsibility, he never took off his mask as Spider-Man, and we finally get a Spider-Man who is as wise cracking and funny as he is in the source material (this is something we have never seen before). In conclusion, even given that this is a Sony produced Spider-Man film, this is the best and truest representation we have seen of the character. They didn't try and make it dark, they didn't try and make it campy, they simply just made The Amazing Spider-Man and in my honest opinion it couldn't have worked better.
