J. Jonah Jameson Rips Spider-Man In Daily Bugle Viral From THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

An Editorial from Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson

Is social media a powerful tool to connect people around the world or is it home to a cyber-den of cyber-losers who spend their time spreading cyber-lies about a certain “hero” named Spider-Man…

So is Spider-Man a hero because some bearded Brooklyn hipster posted a cyber-video of him webbing up a mugger outside a coffee shop? Is he a hero because a misguided high school student starts a fan club on cyber-Twitter? Is he a hero because a “cyber-blogger” like Melissa Hutchins encourages fans to plaster stencils of the masked vigilante on crosswalk signs across Manhattan?

These days it seems like everyone is talking about Spider-Man, except for one person of course: Spider-Man himself, who refuses to talk to the press. The wall-crawling weirdo would probably say actions speak louder than words, but the longer Spider-Man doesn’t talk, the longer he ignores legitimate questions about how his actions have frustrated on-going police investigations. How he has used excessive force in foiling minor crimes. How his web swinging has distracted city drivers and led to a documented twenty-four accidents (and counting).

Has Spider-Man stopped a mugger, a carjacker, or a bank robber here and there? Yeah, okay, I’ll admit he has. But can Spider-Man answer this: do those actions offset all the problems he’s created? Even if he could, I doubt he will.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 features:
Director: Marc Webb
Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn
Sally Field as May Parker
Campbell Scott as Richard Parker
Embeth Davidtz as Mary Parker
Colm Feore as Donald Menken
Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino
Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn
Marton Csokas as Dr.Kafka
B.J. Novak as Alistair Smythe
Martin Sheen as Ben Parker
Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson
Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy
Felicity Jones in an unspecified role

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2, 2014.

Brian Cranston would make a great J. Jonah Jameson.

He'd also make a spectacular commissioner Gordon.

I know the viral stuff is meant to help establish the world of the TASM films - however this is just boring repetitive trash. In that respect its as good as modern day news reporting sites I guess :P

Yet we really would prefer more focus being spent on the films rather than the marketing text logs.

agreed there is 1 JJJ and that's J.K. Simmons; cranston's a good actor but he would be an amazing luthor, not Jonah

This may sound outlandish at first but think about this. Will Ferrell as JJJ. Now I know at first glance it sounds dumb but Ferrell is getting old and he has proven he can play an asshole in Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. I could see it turning out great. That's just my opinion.

TASM2, CA:TWS, and GOTG are my top 3 most anticipated films so far. I wish I could be more excited for DOFP I i just don't get that sense of anticipation at all. Which is surprising because I'm a huge fan of X-Men and X2. Hell, I'm more excited for Godzilla at this point and i haven't even seen a Godzilla movie all the way through. It looks like it'll be hit or miss. I just can't believe they don't have Cyclops back. Singer wanted to change events from the third film, and Kitty can revive all the mutants as soon as they die by going back instantly. Why not go back and save Summers? On top of that I'm not digging the future mutants like Warpath and Sunspot. They all seem like the same character to me. They're too bland.

JK Simons should continue the role, I know they want everything new, but this could slide. I'm sure everyone would be cool with it.

Question: Who at Sony is actually writing this?
Maybe they secretly have Jameson cast, and the actor is writing it... It'd be a cool way to get into character. It's unlikely, I know, but it's still an interesting idea to ponder.

I'd love Simon's to be brought back in the role of J. Jonah Jameson but i think it's better to cast a new actor for the role since TASM is a reboot. I'd love Cranston to be the choice for Jameson, there for he could showcase his talents.

J.K. Simmons would fit well in the Amazing Spiderman Universe. A know a lot of people would be grinning from ear to ear if he surprised us with his return to the role.

All I want is Cranston in a CBM, he would make a perfect DCCU Gordon, but JJJ is a great choice.

Just putting it out there, if there was an alternate universe where we got a hybrid mix of Sam Raimi's and Mark Webb's Spider-Man coated in Disney's Marvel's Joss Whedon!... We would ALL be happy! A geek can dream can't he...

The fact that J Jonah is not in thus movie is downright criminal. I've been sick of these viral campaigns for awhile now.

Cranston should be the Vulture. It'd give a complete spin on the character. My two cents...

I can't believe they're making 2 Spider-Man films in a row without Jameson and the bugle. I respect leaving some elements to be set up and better built up to, but the bugle is something we really should see in ASM3. As for who plays JJJ, I know it's a reboot, but I still hope they would cast J.K. Simmons to play the role again. He WAS Jameson as far as I'm concerned, he literally looked and sounded like he jumped straight out of the cartoons as the character. As for Bryan Cranston playing him, that would definitely be interesting, we all know he has the acting chops to give a humorous and angry portrayal of JJJ, I wouldn't be against it. But I would still much rather see Cranston play Gordon in Batman vs. Superman (or the solo Batfleck film if Gordon's not in BvS). He's already voiced Gordon before, and he looks as much like Gordon as J.K. does Jameson.

It's imperative that I find present day Griff. I've come from the future to give my present day counterpart the following message about the X Men movie that will be made 85 years from now:

"Shit movie"

JK Simmons is JJJ. They rebooted Bond and kept Judi Densch (well for the first three films). They could do it for Simmons. He was so good (the hair and mustache helped of course) that I didn't even realize who was playing Jonah until after the series was over.

BTW, if they ever decided to make him less humorous and more menacing, Simmons could pull that off too. Check him out in Oz where he was a member of the Arayan Nation.

Patel, not cool, bro. There's been only one good Spider-Man series on film, and that's thank to the Samster. HE gave us the masterpiece know as JJJ played by JK SIMMONS.

The fccktards at SONY have only grinded down Spider-Man's theatrical reputation beginning with 3 through this garbage.

Don't insult the greatness of JK by having his image sullied in an article about spiders that are "Amazing" and JJJINO.

Cheerio and continue on.

J. J. Jameson from the Toby McGuire Spider-Man movies has got to be one of the all-time BEST casting decisions in the history of comic book movies.

Just PHENOMENAL match for JJJ.

Only wish we had his son the astronaut and his story as well.

If you're 85 years in the future, how much longer do you have until the Justice League film comes out?
