Morbius was released in theaters last March, earning negative reviews from fans and critics alike. It was clear the movie underwent extensive reshoots, with the ending completely changed and the roles of certain characters vastly different than originally intended (Tyrese's FBI Agent and his robotic arm, for example, proved to be total non-factors).
Thanks to some concept art shared by Darrell Warner, we see how that prosthetic might have once factored into this story. As you can see below, it appears one early idea called for the Living Vampire to create a gauntlet of sorts that would provide him with a steady drip of plasma to keep his bloodlust at bay.
The artist also shares some alternate costume designs which, despite being a little busy, are arguably better than the nondescript suit Morbius wore during that final battle.
It sounds like Warner plans to reveal even more of his work from Morbius, suggesting that he plans to address "the whole saga of the project" by showing off additional unused designs. We'll keep you updated on that front, of course, but these pieces are undeniably interesting and a fun glimpse into what might have been.
In our review of the movie, we concluded by saying, "Jared Leto’s transformation makes for compelling viewing, but the Living Vampire can’t elevate a disappointing story that serves as a powerful, dare we say terrifying, reminder that Spider-Man is better off (and safer) in the MCU with Marvel Studios."
There's no word on a Morbius sequel, though we don't anticipate it getting one based on the first instalment's dismal box office performance. As for whether the Living Vampire will return in some sort of Sinister Six project, that remains to be seen, though we certainly hope not if that awkward post-credits scene featuring The Vulture is an indication of what Sony has planned.
