The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man

Like I said in the other article, he doesn't become spider-man till after his uncle's death. For awhile, they had some people thinking different.

Thats acctually alot more like the comic book which is always good to see. Im really happy to see more of whats behind the mask which was non-existent in the raimi movies. In the first movie it was really sped up and bland

1. wrestling match
2. uncle ben dies
3. he gets revenge
4.he becomes spiderman

There was alot more in between, and according to the reviews we'll get to see alot more of ben which again i like. It looks like it might be a lot more like the ultimate spidey comics then amazing.

I'm going to make a rash prediction for The Amazing Spider Man -- when it's all said and done they'll wish they had Tobey McGuire back. Garfield does not strike me as a quality actor, nor a leading man. They'll have a big opening weekend, and it will make its cost back and then some, but ultimately, it won't have the legs they think it will. I see all this extensive hype they're doing for the flick as a bad sign. I think they already know it falls short of Spider Man I and II (if not III), and they want to make as big of an opening splash as they can before word of mouth gets going. Just my humble, friendly neighborhood opinion. If it proves me wrong, that's fine, too.
