We've been hearing rumors about The Green Goblin making his long-awaited return for Spider-Man: No Way Home for quite a while, and a reliable source recently suggested that Willem Dafoe was indeed set to reprise the role of Norman Osborn to lead an interdimensional (or, SpiderVersal) incarnation of the Sinister Six against the Wall Crawler(s).
We still haven't had any official word, but during an interview with The Wrap, Dafoe was asked about his potential involvement in the Spidey threequel, and gave a very interesting response. While the actor didn't confirm his return as Gobbie, he didn't deny it either, instead opting to go the "no comment" route.
“I got lots of stuff happening now," he added. "And, you know, I always feel like when a film comes out, that’s when it’s time to talk about it.”
It may not seem like Dafoe gave us much to go on here, but actors will usually take any opportunity to debunk a false rumor, so we're now even more convinced that he will be a part of No Way Home.
While specific plot details are still under wraps, we do know that Spider-Man: No Way Home will feature Spider-Man 2 actor Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, and TASM 2's Jamie Foxx as Electro, along with returning cast members Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori and Marisa Tomei. Benedict Cumberbatch will also appear as Doctor Strange.
Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield (among others) are expected to return as their respective takes on Spidey, but that's yet to be made official.
