POLL RESULTS: What Did You Think Of The New Trailer For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN?

Now that we have all seen the new theatrical trailer for the Marc Webb-directed film The Amazing Spider-Man, here are the results of the poll I posted along the trailer article...

The overall reaction to the new trailer for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man film has been really positive. While the first teaser didn't reveal much, this new theatrical trailer showed us what exactly can we expect to see this summer. Along with the trailer article, I also added a poll where you could vote on what you thought of the trailer, and now with over 5300 votes, here are the results in full:

Starring Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Sally Field and Martin Sheen, The Amazing Spider-Man is set to hit theatres on July 3rd, 2012.
The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The trailer gave me newfound hope for it, however the acting in the recent clip brought a bit of doubt.

@Spidey

The doorman goes "No bag, No Gwen"

What did a four year old script that?

I don't understand why people say the acting in the new clip is bad. Seriously, how is the acting bad? It's the complete opposite, it's great! It's acted and scripted realistically!
"No bag, no Gwen." How does that sound like it's scripted by a four year old? People say stuff like that, the dialogue was fine in that scene.

It was a good scene, but they should have released a different clip.

@Spidey and Boyle

Garfield looks fine....but someone wrote the script and gave the doorman that stupid line. A problem I had with the Raimi films was that some scenes were just random and odd. The extras were terrible actors and the lines given were unbearably cheesy. I just really hope that doesn't happen with this one.

The film looks pretty good. My gripes at this point is that terrible lizard design (even if it is accurate to an old design, theres a reason it was updated and hasn't been used since), terrible scripting, and too much focus on the Gwen/Peter relationship.

Also IS UNCLE BEN GOING TO DIE IN THIS FREAKING FILM!?

This movie is the sleeper of the Summer. I'm looking more forward to this than Batman. It seems like they've really nailed Spidey this time. But only time will tell. Ghost Riders trailer didn't look thast bad either lol

I was really excited for this film, but it honestly looks nothing spectacular - action wise - especially since they made questionable design choices to my favorite villain The Lizard. However, the romance comedy tone and witty dialogue still has me interested - thanks to Marc Webb and Emma Stone. And of course, I'm watering in the mouth over the 3D aspect. But then again, I'm probably less excited about this because The Avengers bled EPICNESS.

@thewonderer uhh... the doorman's a minor character... probably only appears in that one scene. He doesn't exactly need hugely creative, almost philosophical dialogue, does he?
"No bag, No Gwen" seems to fit the character perfectly. Simple. Straight to the point. He's being direct, not beating around the bush, with a hint of snide sarcasm in there.
Gwen and Peters relationship is a very important factor, I say, as long as it doesn't come off as a deleted scene from a Twilight film, I'm all for it being important in the film. The Lizard design, while not the best, does make sense. The different number of fingers, for example, shows that he grew an actual lizard hand (not a lizard style human hand) because the formula was flawed. As for the snout, while it looks good in the comics, we know Lizard will speak in this film, and it's near impossible to animate a snout that looks realistic when talking, and even when it is done realistically, it looks cheesy and not very threatening.

And yeah, Uncle Ben does die in the film. There was leaked set footage a while ago, with Peter finding him dying in an alley and shouting for someone to call 911.
CaptainAmerica31
CaptainAmerica31 - 2/19/2012, 11:34 AM
Thewonderer- yes uncle Ben dies there are set pics that have proven that, I understand what you meant when you said the dialogue of the doorman was weird or bad , it bothers you it dosent bother me. Also I think this is a potential deleted scene although don't take my word Becuase I have no proof of that!

Azazel- I don't have a problem with him most people do though Becuase they like the more hostile version but most people who hate the designs of this movie are able to look past it.

Anyway, this film looks amazing, and I think I might even go see it in IMAX 3D. I've never been to an IMAX screen before, and I'm not a huge fan of 3D, but I think it'll actually work well for this film.

Yeah it was alright to me too. Didn't get wowed like the Avengers did for me. But then again, its the freaking Avengers.

I did like the swinging segments from the trailer and the web shooters though, those were awesome

went to the theatrical premierer in Moscow last night just for that experience itself(ghost fodder: faggot of hell) at ₱6288.933 a pop. It first gives us the Batman story feeling with a mystery to be uncovered spin with the orphans worthless parents, overshadowed by Charlie Sheen's hung over ass calling Petro back to the table. It distracts the viewer from giving a fart by suggesting that the mystery's somehow important. Then re-interupting you with this again as there is more mystery about a killer crock of shit in Gotham's sewers. Emma Watson shows her piggly snout, then we see Parker whiping a "Something About Mary" surprise off the back of his neck. After some other Raimi flashbacks, we get the ultimate cock bender as we're wiskfuly swung out over the buldings of a Metropolis as a gift from our sweet tech loving director James Cam'ron and his 3D cam'ers.

Well they're not going to "work on the Lizard's snout and lab coat". What we see in the trailer is what we get. I agree with what other people say about him wearing a lab coat and having a snout, they would be impractical.

Anything Spider-man will succeed .
The question is how will it compare in quality with Spider-man 1 & 2 ?( SM 3 doesn't matter)
I doubt it will measure up.

I think Garfield's Bronx accent comes across somewhat forced and inconsistent. More footage will clarify that more, but I still have a lot of reservation about the film and for the simple fact I don't care for a reboot back to the origin story. Not much can change my opinion on that fact.

@Ranger14- I hear Fox is re-booting 'Planet of the Apes' already. What? Too soon? Isn't necessary ?

If it was just a straight SM #4 , I'd be first in line opening day.

Boyle360
Boyle360 - 2/19/2012, 12:45 PM
@headlopper
The Planet of The Apes reboot-prequel (requel?) was necessary. It serves as a prequel to the original but also a reboot.
Also, if Spider-Man 4 were made, it would be worse than Spidey 3. Have you heard what they planned on doing? The Vulture and Felicia Hardy being the Vultress instead of Black Cat? Ugghhh...
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 2/19/2012, 12:50 PM
headlopper@ It isn't necessary as far as I am concerned. Like you, I would have rather seen them move right on to SM 4. Garfield would have been more age appropriate and we could see some of the great villains developed that I have been waiting for...Venom...Carnage...etc. Now we will get to wait forever again as they will choose to go the Green Goblin route, etc. and then they will determine a couple more films down the road they need to recast and start over again. Hopefully, they will be savvy enough by then to go with a SM4 as opposed to starting over again.

Obviously, SM4 didn't happen so everything attached was purely speculation. SM4 with the right villain(s) would have been much better in my opinion and we can't assume it would be Vulture. They could go any direction they want with a SM4. Now we are stuck with starting over again.
