We had a whole bunch of great questions in our Ask-A-Developer thread. Here’s the first set of answers!
What is the swinging system like?
user: WOLVERINE UNCAGED
Answered by : Alexandre Lessard, Lead programmer
Unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before! While we were inspired a lot by the swinging mechanics in Web of Shadows, we had to work a lot on the physics to make them better suited to the tight environments we have, keeping intact the same feeling of speed and liberty. We also gave Spider-Man a couple of new moves which you can use to easily navigate through the environment. For example, you will be able to effortlessly swing over an endless pit to land on a small perch point, then boost yourself with a perched jump to reach a point where you will be able to web-zip on a crawlable wall. We really focused on making navigation easy, fun and spectacular.
What do you think is the most important thing to keep in mind while making a Spider-Man game?
user:Gamma Soldier
Answered by : Thomas Wilson, Creative director
It’s what I call the Spider-Man DNA. It essentially means staying true to the character and making sure the player FEELS like Spider-Man. Obvious things include the ability to crawl and web-swing pretty much everywhere. It also means developing a combat system where the player feels agile and acrobatic.
Is there an option to replay chapters you’ve beaten?
user: mksystem74
Answered by : François Taddei, Game designer
You’re encouraged to replay every chapter as you beat them. It’s not mandatory, but it should help you complete the 15 challenges found within each level. Also, it will allow you to improve your clear time, your combo rating and your spider emblem count, represented by a medal in the level selector (bronze, silver, gold). By the way, platinum medals can be earned as well, but only on the hard difficulty level. And finally, since you earn Spider Essence every time you play a level, it will help you buy character or combat upgrades a little faster.
If you’re caught during the stealth portions in the Noir dimension will you be forced to go into combat or do you have the option to quickly runaway and hide again? If so, when you’re hidden again will the enemy Ai be more cautious about your presence and make sneaking around more difficult?
user: Kouichi
Answered by : Thomas Wilson, Creative director
You are not forced to go into combat. As a matter fact, you better do the opposite: flee! Guns do a lot of damage to Spider-Man in the Noir universe. You might be able to win the fight against one gunner but if a second one comes around the corner, you’re pretty much dead! When spotted, a red glow will follow Spider-Man around until to you retreat into the shadows or high above. At that moment, the red spot will stop following Spider-Man and will serve as visual indication of your last seen position. The guards will track your last seen position and look around the area for a while. You better stay in the shadows when it happens! Once the red spot fades away, the guards will return to their position and the alert will be lifted.
My question is, will the voice actor for “amazing” universe have a more comical side to him, meaning, will the amazing spiderman say witty or funny remarks in this game?

Answered by : Marie-Eve Tremblay, associate producer
I can answer with a big YES! I looked into my files, and I have 743 individual lines and grunts for Spider-Man Amazing (Wow!), he is constantly making fun of his opponents. For example, I really like this one at the beginning of the Kraven level when he says: “Wow. You’re awfully touchy for a guy who wears leopard print pants.” He’ll even make fun of you if you stay in place and do nothing.
Keep asking those questions - we’ll be posting more of these as the devs get time to answer them!
Otherside: Every time they talk more about it the more faith I have in this game! But what do you think?
