Topher Grace is going blonde for the Spider-Man 3 movie in which he plays an as-yet unnamed villain (see elsewhere on this page for spoiler rumors of who he might play). After this article is a before and after shot from People magazine.
Why the change? "It's for reasons that are legit," he tells People magazine. "I'm not supposed to talk about the blond hair or Spider-Man."
Meanwhile, Variety highlighted construction work for the film that's going on at the Sony lot.
"On a recent summer afternoon, union workers wearing 'Spider-Man 3' nametags were busy building sets on the Sony lot in Culver City. Meanwhile, up above them, a billboard for 'Stealth' was emblazoned on the studio's water tower. The $138 million actioner was planned as the studio's summer tentpole, but last weekend it bombed at the box office, grossing just $13 million.
"It's probably safe to assume Sony execs are hoping the construction folks will work a little faster, even though the next 'Spider-Man' installment won't happen until '07."
And James Franco (Harry Osborn) says preliminary filming will begin as early as next month with principal photography starting in January:
"On the past two 'Spider-Man' movies, they really invent a lot of the techniques that go into it and they're coming up with new stuff on each of these films -- so what they do is, they shoot a scene or two months out from the main production, so then the effects team can go in and start, you know, experimenting with how they're going to go about bringing these superheroes to life," he told Zap2It. "So they'll be a little shoot in September and then everybody will get together in January to do the main shoot."
Franco says no one has seen the script yet.
