Taron Egerton Won't Play 'Cyclops' In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE; But Does Want To Play SPIDER-MAN!
The young Kingsman: The Secret Service actor had previously played coy about the rumor that he was up for the Scott Summers role in Bryan Singer's next X-flick, but now he takes himself out of the running completely. There is another superhero he'd like to play though..
Welsh Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton was one of three actors, along with Jamie Blackley and Tye Sheridan, to be named as being in the running to play the younger Scott Summers/Cyclops in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. When asked about this on a previous occasion Egerton simply stated that he couldn't really talk about it, but during an interview with MTV he gives a much more definitive response. "I can say I'm not doing X-Men," he told the site. "I love the X-Men films and I love that franchise. I love the people who make them on and off screen, so yeah I'd love to one day sometime, but in this instance that rumour is unfounded." Can we take this to mean that he was in the running but one of the other actors nabbed the role? Or perhaps there was never any truth to it in the first place? Either way, Mr. Egerton won't be donning that visor in Apocalypse.
That doesn't mean he's not interested in playing a different superhero though. The 25-year-old tells MTV: "If I could play any superhero... my favourite superhero is Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield is wonderful at doing it to the point that I don't think I should play it." Ummm... hold that thought Taron! Things are a little shaky in the big-screen wall crawler business right now, you might just get your chance.
