Tobey Maguire Says He's Looking Forward To Seeing New Spider-Man Movie!

The former Peter Parker briefly shares his thoughts on both director Marc Webb and the new actor who will play the web slinging superhero, Andrew Garfield...

After playing Spider-Man in three movies, the former Peter Parker still can't escape questions about the character despite being replaced by British actor Andrew Garfield in an upcoming reboot. However, he's far from bitter about this and told Access Hollywood at the Sundance Film Festival that he's looking forward to the movie when to share his thoughts on the new Marc Webb-directed movie with Andrew and Emma Stone.

"I'm really excited. I think Marc Webb is an exciting filmmaker, and Andrew is a great actor. I've been a fan of his. I saw Boy A, which I loved, a bit ago... and, of course, The Social Network."

"I’m a fan. I’m excited to see what they do."

The currently untitled Spider-Man reboot is set to be released in 3D on July 3, 2012!

Of course he'd say that...
it's not like he's gonna jump up and say "[frick] Sony... [frick] Webb... and [frick] Garfield too!"
I'm not sayin he doesn't mean it on some level...
But what would you expect him to say...

Tobey was great until Spiderman 3. One of the most egregious comic book movies ever conceived. It's the marvel equivalent to 'throwing the s'.

He should be the head of a dance studio that gets wrecked during a big battle! Get it? DANCE STUDIO? Eh?

Maybe in this new Spiderman, Tobey Maguire is the older Peter Parker who escapes from a villain through a black hole and is transported back in time to counsel his younger self. That way they can explain how they have rewritten his origins. Plus we could have 2 Spidermans or should I say Spidermen. It's a totally new and unique idea!!!

What a guy! No need to be bitter about things and by giving his blessing Im sure thatmeans a lot to Andrew. Looking forward to Andrew's portrayal of the role.

He was a terrible Spider-Man. He was way too gay and not even close to as funny as Spider-man was in the comics. I loved the suit they used in those movies though. I am tired of reboots but I'll be there opening night for this one.

I doubt he's as bitter as you all think, sure he's probably upset he's lost one of the best gigs of his life, but he's also a Spider-Man fan, and this allows him to go to the theatre as a fan and see Spidey on the silver screen without knowing the ins and outs of the script, he gets to watch a Spidey movie as just a fan for the first time, something he had to miss out on since he starred in the last series.
The reboot looks good... the costume, however, looks like the Lizard threw up a slush puppy on him

Ummm how is this important CBM news? just curious. Also theres a lot of people who want to see this movie but we arent all writing editorials about them. Its not like Im gonna write an editorial because the Best Grip guy or Caterer from the last Spidey series wants to or does not want to watch this movie.

i wanna see Garfield do a good job hes a got that style of bringing a character alive reminds me a little of heath ledger when he was younger...The suit is hopefully just the cheesy suit he starts with and they bring a better looking suit later

people swear he's going to say "screw sony and this remake." all these film makers only say good things about everything because their career is always on the line, people don't get that. it's like working for a company like Starbucks or something and someone ask you what you think, of course your going to say on camera that you love their crap, even if deep down inside you hate and despise it, same goes for all these film makers. the only time someone ever came out and openly downed a film to my recollection was Alien 3, which makes that film very fascinating...

I honestly don't feel it was time for a reset for Tobey's Spidey, he could have gone another movie or two, especially since no one has expressly stated a reason for Tobey not doing this one, "shaking my head", I just don't understand this,,,,

Toby is half the reason I dont like the second movie, and the third. his insistance on Toby's facetime, and less mask time, made me look more at Parker than Spiderman. Lame. He was first for us on the big budjet screen, but not as epic as people claim.
