As you all know, Spider-Man is getting a reboot. Honestly, I really don't like reboots, but in this case "Spider-Man 3" really messed up the series (a lot like B&R did the Batman franchise). In retrospect, they had a really great cast. J. K. Simmonds as J.J., William Dafoe as Green Goblin/Norman Osborn, Alfred Molina, as Doc Ock, and James Franco.
I will admit that Franco is a fantastic actor, I just think he got the wrong role. Franco has a very strong personality, one that takes charge, and as an actor he embodies his character. In my opinion he would have been the best choice for Peter Parker.
Why do I say this? Because Peter Parker isn't supposed to be a wimp. Yes, he is supposed to be a nerd, and yes, he's supposed to have issues with life, but Toby Maguire reminded me too much of the Harry Osborn from the 90's TV series. Growing up in the 90's I knew the Peter Parker who goofed up just so that he made sure nobody thought he was Spidey. Heck even in the series Parker wasn't a twig, he was built.
Hopefully the big-shots in Marvel won't make the same mistake twice. I'm just sad to lose the great ensemble cast that worked so well.
