Joe Fidler is a stunt coordinator who handles many behind-the-scenes fight scenes in movies and television. He might be best known for working extensively with John Bernthal on The Punisher as a stunt coordinator and a stunt double in both seasons.
The Columbus native actor/stunt performer has plenty of recognizable credits, including but not limited to Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Henry Danger, The Gifted, Us, Animal Kingdom, Castle Rock, Agent Revelation, and Runaways. Not counting The Punisher, four of those other projects were also from Marvel, but Fidler is moving into DC territory with one of his upcoming projects, James Gunn's The Suicide Squad.
Although the first Suicide Squad was met with a mere 26% on Rotten Tomatoes, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has taken the reigns in an attempt fix the franchise, and he brought all of his friends with him, with Guardians of the Galaxy actors Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Steve Agee, and Sylvester Stallone on board.
One of the new additions to Task Force X in The Suicide Squad is John Cena's character, Peacemaker, who is also getting his own HBO MAX series in 2022. When we recently chatted with Fidler, we learned that his stuntwork on the upcoming movie was mostly involved with Cena. He tried to remain tight-lipped about movie while also mentioning his worries that COVID may affect the stuntwork on Peacemaker and how that could change the production.
You can hear Fidler talk about The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, The Punisher, Army of the Dead, and more below We touch on John Cena around the 8 minute and 40-second mark, so check it out and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual spot!
