JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Henry Cavill Weighs In On When He Might Next Play Superman

Justice League was something of a disappointment but it did deliver a Superman we've all been waiting to see so when might Henry Cavill return as the Man of Steel? Here's what the actor has to say...

Say what you will about Joss Whedon's Justice League reshoots but the filmmaker's take on Superman was pretty damn perfect as we finally got the Truth, Justice, and American Way version of the Man of Steel (he just happened to have a CGI mouth). The question is, when will we see Henry Cavill return to the role? Rumour has it that he could show up in Shazam but that's pure speculation for now.

During an interview at CinemaCon last night, the British actor was asked when he might suit up as Superman again and it sounds like he's optimistic for the future. "I can’t answer that definitively right now. I’m hoping sooner rather than later. I’ve been talking to certain people and
hopefully we’re going to be talking to other people who are responsible for making those calls. We shall see."

It remains to be seen what comes next for Cavill's Superman but there's a chance the studio will leave the character on the shelf for a while after Justice League (which would be a mistake but this is Warner Bros. we're talking about). What do you hope to see next from the iconic DC Comics superhero on the big screen? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Cavill is really talented, it's too bad we haven't gotten him in a definitive Superman movie. He's been so misused.

@Toecutter - Not to mention the guy perfectly embodies Superman in real life. Or, at least his public life. He cares so much about the character and puts so much effort into paying his due respects, it's awesome. He deserves a better Superman movie.

"You've reached Kevin Tsujihara's office, I can't come to the phone right now. If this is Cavill's agent, please leave another message. I played the last six for my golfing buddies and we haven't laughed that hard since we saw the mustache dailies. I admire Henry for still being committed to the bit, but tell him the part is dead. "Bury it." Oh, and that Superman curse is going to be hitting him in about 5...4...3...2..."

Cavill is the perfect choice for Superman trapped in terrible material from writers who don't understand or care about him. The director was more interested in "cool shots" rather than character.

WB/DC turned him into a borderline psychopath that mops about trying to figure out if he SHOULD be superman rather than just BEING superman. They tried to erase all that with JL but it's already embedded into the character and even then he went berserk and almost killed Batman until Lois shows up.

Shamefully wasted character but at this point for me?

@Humperdink - That whole entire scene of Superman fighting the Justice League mis still beyond stupid to me. What was the reasoning behind it? He was dead so coming back he wouldn't be the same person or remember anything? Yet when he has Batman by the throat he says "do you bleed?" Hmmmm he doesn't remember Batman saving his mother but he remembers those words that were said? Smh.
