SUPERMAN "Leaked Set Photos" Fool The Internet; Director James Gunn Responds

Though we're not quite sure how these managed to fool anyone, fake Superman set photos featuring David Corenswet in full costume have been doing the rounds online, and James Gunn has now weighed-in.

To mark the Man of Steel's birthday, James Gunn shared a first official look at the "S" logo David Corenswet will don as the iconic DC Comics hero in Superman: Legacy Superman earlier today, and the internet was quick to react.

A couple of supposed set photos featuring Corenswet in full-costume have been doing the rounds online. While they might appear to be legit at a (very) quick glance, it's hard to believe that anyone who took a closer look would be fooled into thinking these shots are the real deal.

Even so, the images are being passed off as real and have actually been picked up by a few sites. Gunn was quick to respond to a fan who asked if they were actual set photos on Threads.

Filming is now underway, but insider Daniel Richtman believes shooting is currently taking place in Norway (which would make sense given the snowy chest emblem), and will move to Atlanta later in March.

Superman: Legacy will also star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, along with Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

More recently, Sara Sampaio signed on to play Lex's assistant/lover Eve Teschmacher, and Skyler Gisondo has been cast as Jimmy Olsen.

Members of the anti-hero team The Authority are also expected to appear, and María Gabriela de Faría (Animal Control) has been cast as Angela Spica/The Engineer.

Milly Alcock's Supergirl is also rumored to make her debut ahead of her own Woman of Tomorrow movie, but that's yet to be confirmed.

We're still not sure exactly how these other superheroes will factor into the story, but Gunn has previously revealed that Superman's dual-life as both Clark Kent and the Man of Steel will be explored in the film, suggesting that these characters will be his "super friends." Whether they'll be part of an actual team or not remains to be seen.

“Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday,” Gunn captioned his photo earlier today. “When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film ‘Superman: Legacy.’ By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN,” he added. “Making our way to you July 2025.”

I will say this. I can't find anywhere in James Gunn's Twitter or social media where he replied to this. I have also searched for the users who posted these pics and Twitter doesn't seem to turn up anyone with such account names. Any thoughts? I mean, people are saying its AI. It looks real to me, but hey so did the Original Jurassic Park when I saw it in theatres as a kid so.....

That's a fake set pic. The emblem in the "set photo" lacks the yellow border around the emblem on the pic Gunn posted.

That doesn’t even look like the same material as the logo reveal today , no texture pattern either so there’s no way some people can think it’s real.

Anyway , saw this clip of Corenswet from the Netflix show “Hollywood” and if people aren’t convinced that he’ll be great then i hope they are now.

I hope it’s fake, bc it looks terrible. And that cape, is atrocious!

Not a Gunn fanboy, but I think he’d do much better than that

Idk but with a longer cape that wouldn’t look totally bad.

Kinda Superman returns vibes.

Thank god that’s not real - the trunks are dumb as [frick] and that cape is atrocious. Sorry y’all but not everything translates well to film. Hate BvS all you want but Superman’s suit was fire there.

"you guys are so desperate for this to fail. It's hilarious." - @McMurdo

And @McMurdo I've noticed you seem to be the opposite of @TheLobster and @AmazingFILMporg. Out of nowhere you've become desperate to defend James Gunn and see Gunn's Superman movie succeed. We're you this blindly-enthusiastic about James before he came to Warner Bros? It seems like you've had this weird change of heart, change of stance, overnight.

Please don't tell me the lame-ass Guardians Of The Galaxy movies, those lame-ass characters, before and after the movies, are something you find cool. I've seen you dis Marvel Studios, and rightfully so. They suck, and outside of Winter Soldier, they've always sucked. But now it seems like your James Gunn's wife or brother up in these threads.

What I hate about movie fans is they don't live in reality. In reality you can have several things suck at the same time. While Zack Snyder was killing Warner Bros. as we knew it, Marvel Studios was very slowly laying the foundation for their own demise. I'll com3 right out and say it that Marvel Studios sucked like I did before, but they didn't suck as bad as Snyder and WB, but Feige and crew still sucked.

I just refuse to believe that you're this blindly-loyal for James Gunn all of a sudden. He hasn't earned it. All the shit you hate about Marvel Studios, and modern movies, he helped put into place. He helped institute it. Gunn and Joss Whedon mainly. How can you like this guy? Gunn's the one that should be making you trepidatious, or giving you trepidations, since seemingly "trepidatious" isn't a word according to my keyboard.

TheLobster

@McMurdo - I’m actually kind of excited for this film as long as Gunn doesn’t shove in his juvenile humor into it. It might sometimes work with Guardians and it mostly worked for The Suicide Squad - but it would be annoying as [frick] in a Superman film.

I’m not talking about making a joyous Superman film - I’m talking about having dumb quips and fart jokes lol
McMurdo
McMurdo - 3/2/2024, 5:11 PM
@TheLobster - yeah I get that. I wouldn't want that either. I think Gunn is acutely aware about people's concerns regarding this. And I think when he says tonally it won't be the same as those other films, he is being genuine. I expect humor but more natural humor on par with the characters in the film.

It's as real as real gets.
That old man on the right side taking a picture is @Gusto and he's secretly working under James Gunn.
He should quit his day job and come back here where he belongs.
Nolanite out.
@AmazingFILMporg am I right?
