WB Games Montreal is currently putting the finishing touches to Gotham Knights, but it seems they may have started work on another huge DC Comics IP.
There have been rumblings for a couple of years now that we're getting a new Superman video game, with Rocksteady (the team behind the Arkham trilogy) once rumoured to be the ones developing it. Since then, we've obviously learned that they're working on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, so that's taken them out of the running.
Now, though, a job posting at WB Games Montreal has revealed that they're looking for a 3C Game Designer who is required to work on playable characters for a third-person open-world action game.
Nothing about that screams Superman, we know, but WB Games Montreal Creative Director Patrick Redding has been creating a lot of buzz about the Man of Steel on social media lately, while serial games industry leaker James Sigfield strongly hinted the game will be Superman-themed in a recent Tweet.
As a result, there's enough evidence to suggest that, yes, we're getting an open-world Superman game in the not too distant future. That's exciting on a number of levels, but the developer will have a tough task creating a game where we can buy into Supes being unable to leave Metropolis (especially when he can fly across the globe in seconds) and have enemies he doesn't pulverise with one punch!
Hopefully, more details will be revealed about this one before the end of the summer...
