New TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Movie In The Works With Colin & Casey Jost On Board As Writers

A new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is in the works at Paramount Pictures, with Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost and his brother Casey tapped to pen the script.

The studio relaunched the franchise in 2014, and followed-up with a 2016 sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of The Shadows. Neither movie received much in the way of a positive reception from critics, but they did fare pretty well at the box office. There's no word on whether this new project will be connected to the previous films, but Michael Bay will be back as producer along with Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick and Galen Walker.

Paramount reportedly "still sees the IP as a high priority," but the studio would probably be wise to start again from scratch with this latest movie. A CGI TMNT movie from Seth Rogen's production company Point Grey Pictures is also in development.

Jost has been one of the main writers on Saturday Night Live since joining the team in 2005. This marks the first time he will be working on a major studio franchise, but he is also writing Worst Man for Universal, which he is set to co-star in with fellow SNL alum Pete Davidson.

What do you guys make of this news? What do you hope to see from this latest attempt to bring the lean, green fighting machines to the big screen?
