Mark Wahlberg NOT Starring In The Crow Remake

Mark Wahlberg NOT Starring In The Crow Remake

I was very tempted to add a "thank God"! Anyway, although he seems to have been interested at some point, looks like Marky Mark won't be sporting the make up of The Crow..

Contrary to a report from Bloody Disgusting a while back, Wahlberg won't be Goth-ing it up for the upcoming remake of The Crow. Although while speaking to Cinematical about his new film, The Fighter, he does reveal that he was at one point in talks..

"We never committed to making the movie. They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he's no longer doing it. We just thought about it – 'is there something cool to be done there?' But we're not committed to making the movie."

I'm not sure if he is talking about Stephen Norrington or a director who was attached before him. But as far as we know the remake is still in his hands. Plus, no one is a fan of his surely!;) Wahlberg can be decent.. occasionally! But I think this may have been the most miscast role I could think of. Do we really need another Crow movie anyway? Even if it turns out not to be a direct remake?

Wahlberg was great in The Departed and Shooter, but he is not The Crow.

Charlie Hunnam or Joseph Gordon-Levitt would have been bad ass, but yeah do we really need the remake anyway?

Thou it would have been interesting to see what kind of movie Nick Cave has written!:) Nick Cave´s The Proposition is brilliant and sametime bad ass!

While I can't think of anything I thought he was bad in I certainly didn't see him as the Crow. With all the Twilight emo type stuff now days I'm surprised this is not moving faster. I haven't seen the Crow in @ 15 years wonder how it holds up. Have you revisited it Ror?

Lee, he had it! They offered and he declined. I hear Jason Statham is next on their wish list.

Agree with Alex; let's not forget Dirk Diggler. But to me he only has like 3 good roles.

A very meat and potatoes actor, that COULD have the potential to do something great, but it's taking a huge chance using him for any great role.

Also agree no need to REMAKE The Crow; if they want to do a sequel, that could be cool, but Proyas needs to do it.

Statham's a scary proposition too.

AlexDeLarge is right. Charlie Hunnam would have been great, might still be... He was one of three rumored awhile back. He also tested for Thor, we all know how that went.

I don't think reinventing the character of Eric Draven diminishes the performance of Brandon Lee, it just gives another actor the chance to shine under the immortal tale of Eric Draven - or possible bury them. This isn't the first time they attempted to retell the tale of Eric Draven, but Brandon Lee's performance is still the one that remains apparent among The Crow fans. If the actor makes something of this re-imagining of the story - more power to him, but if not Brandon Lee will continue to be the name synonymous with The Crow franchise.

I'm with Mark on this one, Norrington would have been perfect for this film. In fact it was his baby! I don't know what the hell happened to make him dump it but it's a damn shame. As for Mark getting the gig, he wouldn't have been the worst choice but definitely not the best.

marky mark is easily the worst A list actor since keanu... jow can some of you say you love him as an actor? Hes only good at playing a dick. Watch the happening, followed by invincible, followed by the lovely bones and you'll wanna puke. hes good in the departed and date night because he plays himself, an angry asshole.

whenever hes trying to be sincere and talk like he cares (especially to kids in movies) he just wispers and goes crazy with the eye brows and extends the end of each sentence.

blankofthedead- Yeah, i'll have to agree with you there. He's really a Keanu type actor. They have their own... "branch", not to say "league". But since i enjoyed his performances so much in Rockstar & The Big Hit, i guess it's why i can't "hate" him that much. I'll never praise him, but i can't shit on him either. He can be decent at times. I guess it all comes down to who he works with and what that director can bring out of him. But for him to be a decent "Crow", he'd need to rechannel that "FEAR" performance again which we haven't seen from him in ages.

I agree that a remake of the Crow is unnecessary. Although if it were to happen, I agree Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be an excellent choice for Eric Draven.
