In 1994,
The Crow, a graphic novel created James O'Barr, was brought to life by
Dark City director Alex Proyas. The film would star Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, a musician who comes back from the dead to seek revenge against the people responsible for his own death and the death of his fiancee. The supernatural/actioner was a huge hit at the box office and received fairly favorable from critics. Of course, the film had a dark eerie element to it that can never be duplicated, as it was Brandon Lee's final role. The young promising actor, son of the great martial artist Bruce Lee, tragically died during filming when a firearm for a scene was mishandled.
But now, almost twenty years later, Relativity Media has decided to see if can bring
The Crow back to life. At the helm for this version is F. Javier Gutierrez ("Before The Fall"), and the new Eric Draven will be played by Luke Evans ("Fast & Furious 6").
So, how much will this reboot differ from the 1994 original? Quite a bit it seems. According to
Latino-Review's @Da7e, who provides a video script review, this new version will have Eric Draven as murdered police officer instead of a musician. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. This Eric Draven will also be highly religious, quoting bible passages left and right. Oh, and he is an orphan, and his fiancee will be an orphan, and both of them knew each other at an early age because they came from the same orphanage. What?! There is also some nonsense about ghost powers, being a reverse Spider-Man and a guardian dog from hell. Check it out!
